Defense counsel objected to the ad mission as evidence of photographs taken after the shooting and the ob jection was sustained for the time being. When Fields entered court this morning he stood for a few moments before his wire and family but they Ignored him. Only three witnesses were heard be fore adjournment of court yesterday. They were sons of Mr. and Mrs Fields and all three testified against their father. . Sherman Fields, 9. and William H. Fields, 15, testified that Mow was sitting In a chair smoking a clgaret when he was shot. William stated that after he shot Mow, Fields point ed the gun at his wife, the boy tes tifying that he saw haa father "pull ing the trigger." It waa brought out that the revolver contained only the shell that killed Mow. Delmar Fields, 17. testified that he ran Into the room when he heard the shot and took the gun away from his father as he was pointing It at Mrs, Fields. Under cross examination he denied that Fields was trying to hand the gun to his estranged wife but acknowledged that he did not hear the trigger clicking. "I waa trying to protect my moth er," Delmar said. "I didn't know the gun had only one shell." Defense counsel questioned the wit ness regarding who slept with Mrs. Fields the night before the shooting but the boys said Mow waa still up when they went to bed and was pre paring for breakfast when they got up the next morning. It was brought out that Mow came to the house the day before the shooting and helped to split wood for the family. When Mow visited the family at Christmas time he stayed over night at the nearby home of the boys aunt, Delmar tes tified. Nine-year-old Sherman, when cross examined about discussing the case with anyone, said he had made up "no lines" to recite, his mother, he added, having told him simply to tell the truth.
