ASK WAGE BOOST
DETROIT. June 8. -HP) Accounts
of last month's melee at the Ford Mo
tor company plant were sought today
lrom participants on both Bides while
the United Automobile workers map
ped further plans In automotive labor
hargalnlng.
Common Pleas Judge Ralph W. Lid
dy, pursuing his one man grand Jury
investigation, called into the hearing
several union women and two men
said to have aided In beating union
representatives off Ford property.
Attention centered also on the un-
.ona projected resumption of negotla
Hons with General Motors corpora-1
tion for Increased concessions In wages
and working conditions. One of the
"tentative" demands Is a blanket
wage boost of 10 cents an hour, en
tailing e. 50. 000,000 annual apgre-
gp-te.
Testimony on the May 26 Dearborn
plant riot was expected from Oscar
Jones, negro, former pugilist, and
Wilfred Comment, both of whom
Prosecutor Duncan McCrea has said
were members of the Ford service de
partment. The Investigation seeks to determ
ine whether employes of the service
department, also known as plant "po
lice" had a hand In routing unionists
from Ford property.
Harry H. Bennett, Ford personnel
director who testified briefly yester
day, has denied that service men took
part In the fight attendant upon the
union's effort to circularize plant
workers.
Edsel Ford, company president, will
:estlfy upon his return from an east
ern business trip.

jection was sustained for the time
being.
When Fields entered court this
morning he stood for a few moments
before his wire and family but they
Ignored him.
Only three witnesses were heard be
fore adjournment of court yesterday.
They were sons of Mr. and Mrs Fields
and all three testified against their
father. .
Sherman Fields, 9. and William H.
Fields, 15, testified that Mow was
sitting In a chair smoking a clgaret
when he was shot. William stated
that after he shot Mow, Fields point
ed the gun at his wife, the boy tes
tifying that he saw haa father "pull
ing the trigger." It waa brought out
that the revolver contained only the
shell that killed Mow.
Delmar Fields, 17. testified that he
ran Into the room when he heard the
shot and took the gun away from his
father as he was pointing It at Mrs,
Fields. Under cross examination he
denied that Fields was trying to hand
the gun to his estranged wife but
acknowledged that he did not hear
the trigger clicking.
"I waa trying to protect my moth
er," Delmar said. "I didn't know the
gun had only one shell."
Defense counsel questioned the wit
ness regarding who slept with Mrs.
Fields the night before the shooting
but the boys said Mow waa still up
when they went to bed and was pre
paring for breakfast when they got
up the next morning. It was brought
out that Mow came to the house the
day before the shooting and helped to
split wood for the family. When Mow
visited the family at Christmas time
he stayed over night at the nearby
home of the boys aunt, Delmar tes
tified. Nine-year-old Sherman, when cross
examined about discussing the case
with anyone, said he had made up
"no lines" to recite, his mother, he
added, having told him simply to tell
the truth.
