(AP) Two senstorlsl opponents of the Roosevelt court bill suggested today that Ambauador William E. Dodd return from bis Berlin post. Commenting on Dodd'a letter to Senators Qlasa (D.-Va.) and Bulkley (D.-Ohlo). urging support of the court reorganisation bill because of a, "dictatorship" threat to the United States, Senator Van Nuya (D.-Ind.) said: "The ambassador has overstepped tha boundaries of his official position somewhat. His letter was lll-tlmed Ill-advised, unsolicited and out of keeping with bis function aa ambar- aador. May Ask Hearing. If Dodd "continues" to make auch charges, Van Nuys added, he will ask through the state department that the ambassador be "Invited back here to appear before the senate ju diciary, or foreign relatione commit tee." Senator King (D.-Utah) said Dodd a letter Indicated that he had become "Imbued with fascism" and had dem onatrated that he waa "not a proper man to represent this country In Ger many." The usual cauttoua "no comment" waa the state departments reply to all lnqulrlea concerning Dodd'a letter and Its possible effect on his official eareeer. Dodd, a former professor of history at the University of Chicago, was ap pointed to the Berlin post in 1933. Opponents of the court bill de clared today administration leaders had advised the president senate ap proval of the measure was extremely doubtful. Claim Enough Votes. Senate auporters, however, contend ed they hsd enough votes to pass It, although some said there would be only a vote or two to apare. Opponents claimed 83 votesor three more than a senate majority against the measure.
