Coach Bowerman announced to day that Medford would stage an Invitational meet here May 1, with team from Grants Pass, Ashland and Roecburg competing. His topic was the much discussed supreme court ques tion, and in a clear, concise manner, be enlightened his audience on this Item of major Interest, Mr. Denman. a member of the Oregon Bar association, has been as signed to make speeches in this re gard throughout Jackson county, and his appsarance with the 20-30 club was In fulfillment of this aaslgnmsnt. He opened his talk by giving a review of the workings of the government, that his listeners would understand more clsarly the attempt to Increase the supreme court. He made this statement in regard to Increasing the court: "Fifteen members will undoubtedly find more difficulty In agreeing than the pres ent nine." He declared that the claim that the court has not been able to keep up with cases brought before It. Is false, as the clerk has a record of cases, which shows It to be up to date. If the president were given power to change the supreme court when ever he chose, Denman stated, "It would give htm an ax to hold over their heads." He explained that a liberal president might work to good success under an Increase, but that one not so liberal might wield undue power. After Mr. Denman's talk, open discussion was carried on by members of the club. The newly constructed buoys, paint ed in red and white, will be placed on Emigrant lake sometime this week, according to Aubrey Sander, general chairman for the May 2 regatta. Work Is progressing at a rapid rate and It was suggested that all members spend the remaining twelve days In publi cizing the event. Last year's attendance, according to members who participated in the first annual regatta by the club, was around 3000.
