American Legion Auxiliary By Grace Holmes The first and foremost endeavor of the American Legion and American Legion auxiliary has been and will be for the ensuing year help for the disabled in 'the hospital and their cependents. The care of the disabled and their dependents is our trust: a charge we keep with those of our comrades who fared badly In th for tunes of war. Since Its Inception the American Legion's chief concern was to see that each disabled veteran re ceived hla Just due through proper legislation. It has been our pleasure to supplement that work by trying to keep our disabled contented In mind. The work of each organisation has dovetailed with the other in uni son, until, today, our rehabilitation program has become stupendous in Its scope. The Roseburg Veterans hospital re ceives mep from all over southern Oregon and also ha many from Idaho and Montana. The families of these men mo.it often come with" them thus creating quite a problem for the welfare and hospital commit tees of the Roseburg hospital auxili ary chairmen. Each of the last three years each unit ol uthern Oregon has sent a box of toys to be distrib uted to the children of these families. Medford unit is placing boxes In Fluhrer's Bakery on North Holly St. and in Feldman's Electric store on East. Main and Bartlett streets for contributions of toys. We would like each toy to be wrapped and a nota tion on each toy as to whether It la for a boy or girl. These boxes will be placed In the stores named above on Dec. 7th and will be there until Dec. 12th as they are to be sent to Roseburg on the 13th of December. We hope for a generous response. Auxiliary members are reminded of the welfare meeting on Monday. Dec. 7th, In the welfare room u the Medford Kit-tonal bank building at 8 p. m. Quite a bit of work is on hand to finish before the new year. Much Interest la being taken in the district meeting to be held In Klamath Falls on Tuesday.
