Elliott of Central Point for the last 10 years, passed away at a local hospital late Wednesday evening following a lin gering Illness. She was born at Council, Idaho, August 7, 1011, During her residence at Central Point, she was a member of the Federated Church there. Be sides her parents, she leaves one brother, Douglas Elliott of Central Point. Also a number of uncles and aunts, one of whom, Mrs. A. F. Lewis, resides at Phoenix. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Chas. Lewis at the Conger chapel at 3 p. m. Saturday. Inter ment will be In the Central Point cemetery. (AP) Conflicting directly with a recent opinion by the Washington tribunal, the Ore gon supreme court ruled today that profits of contracting companies on federal projects were not taxable by the atate under the Income tax law The opinion on two separate suits over work done on Bonneville dam and lettlea at the mouth of the Columbia river were written by Jus tlce John L. Rand and reversed the decrees of Judge Robert I. Tucker of Multnomah county. The cases were brought by Win ston Brothers, a Minnesota corpora tion, lolned by Guy F. Atklnaon and George H. Atkinson, residents of Cal ifornia, against the state tux com mission which had levied Income taxes against them. TOWNSENDERS SEE CHICAGO, Nov. 5. ( AP) Leaders of the Townsend national recovery plan, the old age pension movement fostered by Dr. Francis E. Town send, claimed today that at least 66 congressmen and senators elected Tuesday would vote for the Town- send movement. At least that many listed as fav orable, leaders said, were assured of their seats. The group Included 37 Democrats, 14 Republicans, 10 Pro gressives and five Farmer-Labor I tes. Ten congressmen were listed from California.
