Abbey, Inc. The three series announced by Mr Abbey are: The Nash Ambassador Eight, aristo cratic leader ot the Nash line, built en 125-inch wheel base, powered by the Nash eight-cylinder, valve -inroad, twln-lgnltlon motor which de velops 109 horsepower, and fitted with luxurious appointments. The Nash Ambassador Six, gener ously designed on & 131-inch wheel base, equipped with the Nash six cylinder, valve-in-head, 95-horsepow r, twln-lgnltlon engine, and, like its : companion Ambassador, a quality built car. The Nash La Fayette "400' with a 117-inch wheelbflse, 90-horsepower Monlto-sealed motor, a bigness and roominess rare In automobiles of the ' lowest price field, and appointments in keeping with the high Nash stan dard. Although all of the 1937 Nash of- ferlngs are readily recognised aa i members of the Nash family, each has distinguishing characteristics. The Nash Ambassador Eight and the Nash Ambassador Six are Identi cal In many respects. Radiator orna ments and treatment of headlamps, however, give different front end ap pearance, while In decoration of the trunk In the rear also makes for eaae of Identification. The Nash LaFayette-"400" Is easily recognized because the bars of Its die-cast radiator grille run horizon tally instead of vertically, as on the two Ambassador series. General design Improvements on all three lines are many, and bring a new and smart styling to the auto motive field. Each of the new 1937 Nash series has been designed to eon form to accepted streamlining principles. Handsome stainless steel strips on the hood are for decoration only, ex haustive testa by Nash engineers hav ing proven that hood louver openings add nothing to engine ventilation. One-piece seamless ateel tone not only greatly Increase body rigidity and serve as added passenger pro tection, out also make possible a new beauty In top treatment. Increased comfort has been engi neered right into the 1937 Nash La Fayette series by several design ad vances. Seats re wide, and provide amplo room for six passengers with out crowding. Recessed arm rests In rear seats Increase comfort of back seat passengers. Head room has been increased to a point where it from one to two Inches greater than usu ally found In a modern motor car. Floor tunnels have been eliminated, providing greater footroom. In the front seat compartment, roominess has been increased by mounting the hand brake on the dash. The popular "sleeping car" feature of the Nash of 1936 has been placed on the Ambassador series for 1937. improved and refined.. In all 1937 Nash La Fayette cars a six-foot four inch double bed may be made up in the back seat In ten minutes. The cushions serve as a mattress, and the back of the "rear seat lifts up to pro vide a clothing shelf, similar to those in Pullman berths. To protect passengers entering or leaving the cars during rainy weather, drip mouldings have been placed over the doors In all models. Interiors have been designed with an eye to luxury and comfort. High quality upholstery and upholstery trim, modernistic hardware, conven ient ash receivers, beautiful Instru ment panels. ... all blend Into the harmonious treatment of tho inside of tho new Nash La Fayette models. Many mechanical Improvements and refinements are added to cars al ready considered models of mechani cal excellence. Important among them Is the ride stabilizer, eliminating body sway on curves, providing Im proved steering ease, and serving to straighten the cars out after s turn 9 "It's Buick Amin! Dressler's New Richfield Station Now Open ?W V 'IiT-, I Offering a complete line of Rich field products, Harlt-y Dressler's new. modern Richfield service station opened last week at the corner of Main and Holly streets. The station Is built on a new type Richfield de sign which Is being used all along the coast to offer Richfield products in uniform stations with uniform service. Mr. Dressier, who was formerly em ployed by the Gold Seal Creamery, has operated Richfield service sta tions in California for the past two nnd one-half years. The new station will feature Rich field gasoline. Rich lube motor oil, Rlchlube gear grease and a complete and certified lubrication service. Dressier in distributor for Vale '.Ires and Richfield Eagle batteries. has been made. An Improved synchro-shift trans mission on the Ambassador llnej gives extremely quiet operation in all gears. Synchronized springing has been further improved on 1937 Nash La Fayotte cars. The springs are devised to oscillate at tho same rate, fron', and rear, and have pre-lubrlcated in serts between the three long upper leaves at their extreme ends. To prevent squeaks, springs are packed with a special compound at the fac tory; this compound Is unaffected by temperature changes. A new three-point mounting has; been developed for the Ambassador six and the Nash LaFayette-"400.M This new mounting results In smooth and quieter engine operation, and Isolates motor vibration from the body. 'No-draft ventilation has been built into all Nash cars. The cruising gear, so popular wltn motorists since Introduced by Nash two years ago. again Is optlonsl on all models. In addition, engineers have devised a speedometer for cars equipped with cruising gears, whlcn demonstrates to the driver the dif ference In car speed and motor speed while in this gear and permits him to see for himself the savings ef fected by this device. Instrument panels on all three se ries are of mahogany grain. In the Ambassador series an oxidised silver thread Is used to accentuate the ma hogany finish. Instruments on all models are grouped conveniently di rectly in front of the driver. At the right la an exceptionslly large pack age compartment. A red light on the speedometer notifies the driver when hit upper driving beam is on. Mr. Abbey reports that they al ready have orders for eight of the new models which will be delivered as soon as a large shipment, due here In a few days, arrives. CHRYSLER ROYAL 6 ! IN MILEAGE TESTS The now 1937 Chrysler Royal six I, proving to bo the most economical oar ever produced by the Chryaler corporation, according to H. P. Lanffe of the Lange Motor Car oompany. On actual testa conducted by Mr. Lange. the average mileage made at 45 miles per hour was 23 miles per gallon, nnd 18 miles per gallon at 00 miles per hour. Mr. Lang stated yesterday, "Any one wanting to verify thts fact can at any time drive this car and make his own test. Seeing Is believing. This re markable mileage In a car of the size of the new Chrysler Royal with a 08 horsepower motor Is entirely due to the genuine Chrysler automatic over drive which has been used by Chrys ler In the Airflow models since 1934." Chryelcr originated this device and the automatic overdrive was first used by Chrysler in the sensational new streamline Chrysler Airflow cre ated by the Chry, ler corporation, ac cording to Mr, Lange. "Tha automatic overdrive makes It possible to get aa high as IS to 19 miles per gallon on the Imperial Chrysler AlrHow at average driving speeds. In the first shipment of three carloads of Chrysler cars due to ar rive by next Baturday there will be some of the new Imperial 80's. This psrtlcular car is a new addition to the Chrysler line and can be nad in the deluxe models In 131 Inch wheel bsse, and the custom built seven psseenger models In the custom Im perial with 140 Inch wheel base." Mr. baruce staUd. The new Imperial Eight will have the same motor, transmission, over drive and hypold rear axle aa used In the 1938 Airflow eight. This new motor develops 130 horsepower and Is beyond a doubt the fastest and most powerful car of Its alls and weight on the market. Colby, addressing himself to "con science -Democrats," at the rally last Olght charged President Roosevelt with being a voluntary or tnvoluuUry recipient of communist support and asserted "If his plans succeed, thor will be no Democratic party." The tip, one of several received yes terday, was telephoned to Buehnell Memorial hall where Colby spoke. "Will you get word to somebody that there la someone In the fourth or fifth row who will knife Mr. Colby at the conclusion of his address?" i women's voice said over the tele phone, which was answered by one of the attendants at the hall. Two police officers and the crew of two police cruiser cars went to tho hall, reinforcing two policemen al ready on duty there. Policemen were stationed so they could observe any acts of the audi ence without being seen. The audi ence remained unaware of the situa tion. At the close of Colby's address, nothing untoward happened. Police escorted Colby from the hall to the Hartford club and then to his train. , ALL CONTESTS SALHM, Oct. 34. (p Possibility of election contests, whloh might even reach the state supreme court, in the event of close races In the election November 3 appear highly likely as the result of several unof ficial Inquiries received by state of ficials from eastern Oregon points. As yet the attorney general's office has not had the question presented, but a candidate in one eastern coun ty and an officer in another raised the same point in personal letters to two dtfferent state officials. A study resulted, the finding of which would prove highly susceptible to court challengers. Before the matter can corns to the official attention of the attorney general, the question must be put to him, under the state law, by a state or district official. In "these two coses the district attorney of either coun ty could bring the matter up for am opinion, which, however, could be overruled by a court. The constitutional provision upon which the point was rstaed la that "for the purpose of voting, no person hall be deemed to have gained or lost a residence by reason ct his pres ence or absence while employed In the service of the United State This, In view of the next constitu tional section disfranchising soldiers and sailors outright from voting with in the state, made It appear a debate able point, one side contending the CCC camps, of which there are about 60 in Oregon, are operated along army tines with the members enrolled for six months. Another view la that they are civilians, even though moved from place to place at the will of the government. Requisition Issued SALEM, Oot. 34. The new Imperial BlRht will be tho most luxurious low priced car over produced by Chrysler, said Mr. Lange.
