Grease Fire The fire department's chemical squad was called this morn ing to put out a grease fire in the kitchen of the Coffee Cup at the southeast corner of Main and front streets. No damage was done. Small Flue Fire' An overheated fireplace flue In the home of A. H. Miller at 1320 East Main street last night was quickly controlled by the fire department's chemical crew. There was no damage. New Stenographer Miss Helen Drummond today received a tempor ary civil service appointment as ste nographer of the Rogue River na tional forest service. She Is a sister of Dr. C. I. Drummond, Jackson coun ty health officer. Chorus Rehearsal Announcement was made today that the Jackson County Teachers' chorus will hold Its first rehearsal Saturday morning at 10 o'clock In the muslo room of the Senior high school. Prize Photos Displayed An exhibit of photographs for which Verne Shangle was awarded prizes at the Oregon state fair in Salem last week was arranged In the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce today. Of 27 photographs exhibited at the fair, Mr. Shangle won three firsts, two seconds and four honorable mentions. First prizes were awarded for photographs of Claudia Ann Mitchell, Amos Burg. National Geographic staff member, and a cake of Rogue valley cheese, entered in the commercial division. Second prizes were awarded for pho- tographa of Dr. LeRoy C. Jensen and Anne Whiteaker, daughter of Oregon's first governor, who was Queen Moth er of the Diamond Jubilee held here in June of 1934, when she waa pho tographed by Mr. Shangle in the home of Mrs. Margaret Faorick. Honorable mention as awarded to photographs of Jackie Lee Moad, Judge Will G. Steele, Joyce Hoagland and a group of gold nuggets displayed during the Jubilee celebration here. All these photographs are now on exhibit at the chamber of commerce.
