Bartlam to James Firm la an eight o'clock cere mony at St. Mark'a Episcopal church lent evonlng. Her mother1! weddln? gown of French marquisette over duchess ealln contrasted beautifully with the lovely brunette coloring of the bride. The gown displayed touches of rose point lace and pearls as trimming with a cap of old rose point duchess lace and orange blossoms catching up the veil. She carried a half shower bouquet of white sweetpeas, gar denias and lilies of the valley. Miss Harriet Sparrow, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and wore psle blue taffeta with a matching Juliet cap and blue slippers. Her half ahower bouquet was ox pirut snap dragons. The gowar of Miss Marlon Rankin brldesmHld, was Identical with that of the maid of honor, differing only in color, which was pink. Mrs. Alex Sparrow, mother of the bride, wore blue Jlnja crepe and a gardenia corsage, while Mrs. Albert Lee Wlthlngton, the bride's grand mother, was gowned in black satin and wore a violet corsage. -Black lace and gardenias were worn by Mrs. Grace Firth, of San Francisco mother of the groom. Floral decorations for the church were all u. white, traditional theme for weddings, Easter lilies, carnations. stock and snapdragons being used with palms and ferns. Kenneth Firth, brother of James, attended his brother as beat man, and ushers were Howard Osborne, W. W. Aldrloh, James Hayes and F. D. Clirk, or Stockton, Calif. The bride came down the aisle on the arm of P. Corning Kenly and was given In marrihge by her mother. After the oeremony, the bride and groom received their friends at a small reception at Klrkland Farm, Jtomo of the bride, where roses, trees- las and lilies In delicate shades of pink, blue end white formed a charming setting for the bridal party. Miss Sparrow attended Katharine Branson's school at Ross, Calif., and Mr. Firth Is a graduate of Stanford university. The couple have been much entertained at pre-nuptial af fairs during recent weeks, their wed. ding being one of the mostjirojrU- nent social events of the spring sea- , son. i Large Crowd Attends Officers9 Club Dance One of the largest crowds yet to i attend one of the monthly dances! arranged by the Officers' club danced 1 at the Hotel Medford last night aa the guests of officers of the Med ford Civilian Conservation Corps dls-1 trlot. The monthly dances arranged by the club are no-host affairs, with formal attire predominating among the guests. Invitations are issued to all retired officers of the national guard, reserve officers, technical agency personnel, member of the Olftcora' club and their civilian friends. In charge of arrangements for the dance last night were Capt. Albert T. Anderson, Lieut. Roy Craft and Lieut. Robert W. King. Club Members lluents Thursday Mrs. Harry Barneburg and Mrs Harry Wortman were hostesses to the Pythian club Thursday evening. Following (the business meeting, tables were set up for cards and games, those receiving honors being Mesdames Cole, Helmroth, Flchtner and Conner. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Wortman. MlMlon Society I Ins Program Wednesday About sixty-five members and visi tor formed the group at the meeting Wednesday of the Adult Missionary society of the First Christian church, with Mrs.L O. Oentner, president, presiding over the short business ses sion. The program, on the subject of Porto Rtco, was In charge of Mrs. Walter Kindred, papers being read by Mrs. A. O. Daughters of Nile Plan Anniversary Party In Ashland OranU Paas will be the hostess city to Zulelma temple. Daughters of the Nile, at the meeting scheduled for next Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Preceding the meeting, mem. bers will gather for luncheon at 13:30 at the Redwoods Hotel. This meeting will see the new offi cers, headed by Mrs. Charles A. Woods of this city, queen, taking their chairs for the first time since their Installation. In addition to the reg ular business, committees for the year will be appointed and the yearly program outlined. Also at this time, plans and ar rangements will be completed for the party In Ashland In April commem orating the fifteenth anniversary of the organization of Zulelma temple. Charter members will be honored guests for the occasion. Plans for the affair Include a covered dish lunch eon. Mrs. Woods will report on her visit to Manzelah temple at Sacramento recently, where she attended a cere monial and reception for the su preme queen, Mrs. Dorella Taylor, of Chicago. Number Perform On Guild Party Program Entertaining In honor of the anni versary of the organization, members of the Crater Lake guild held their annual birthday party at the church Monday evening. Appearing on the program was Mrs. Katharine Wendt, accompanied by Mrs. Eva Mar ah; a quartet from the high school glee clubs, composed of Edith Hodgklns, Cartnne Harwood, John Dennlson and Don Harriott, who sang two numbers and were ac companied by Miss Constance Moore. Ml as Floy Young directed the quar tet. John Eada presented tricks of m a g 1 e and alelght.of-hand. Mrs. Olotha Olson, Mrs. Earl Wymore and Miss Eleanor Curry, vocal trio, sang two numbers, and H. D. Kern showed the latest pictures, in color, of south ern Oregon scenes. At the close of the program, re freshments were served by the com mittee In charge. Planning For Dinner And Meeting Extensive preparations are being made by the Daughters of Union Vet erans of the Civil War for the offi cial visit of the department president, Mrs. Mary -Furber, of Eugene, which Is scheduled for Tuesday evening of this week. Arrangements are being made for a no-host dinner at Valentine's cafe to precede the meeting. Reservations may be made by calling Mrs. Larry Schade not later than Tuesday noon. Neighborhood Club Entertained Wednesday Members of the Oak drove Neigh borhood club were entertained Wed nesday afternoon by Mrs. J. B. Lundy at her home on the Jacksonville highway. Following ' the business meeting, refreshments were served by the hos tess to eleven members and lour guests. Mrs. Lundy was assisted by her sister, Mrs. Jamlenn. Announcement waa made that the next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Elton Waldron, March 18. Couple Married In Aberdeen Wednesday. Medford friends of Ina Msrqutas Garrett and Thomas Turpln will be Interested to learn of their mar riage in Aberdeen, Wn, Wednesday evening. The ceremony was perform ed at the home of the bride's sister. Mr. Turpln Is captain of the Hre department at Bremerton. Wn.. where he haa lived for the past 14 years. The bride hns been residing In San Francisco for five years. After a short wedding trip. Following the ceremony, a large reception was held In the penthouse of the Hotel Cecil, after which the young couple left by motor for Palm Springs and will also visit the San Diego exposition. The bride Is a graduate of Lux school for girls, while the groom graduated from California Institute of Technology. They will make their home , In San Francisco, where Mr. Stelger Is engaged in business. Daddies'NTght Plan Of Roosevelt Circle Daddies of the school will be hon ored guests at the program being planned by the Roosevelt Home and School circle for Friday evening. Fes. tlvltles will begin at seven-thirty. Appearing on the program will be Mlse Sarah Van Meter, who will ad dress the group. The boys' glee club of the school will sing a group of cowboy selections and Miss Mary Ann Gates will sing a solo. The Jackson County Teachero' chorus will also present a series of sing.
