Obituary Mrs. Earl, Hewitt Ethel Matilda Hewitt, wife ot Earl Hewitt, and resident of Kings high way, passed away at a local hospital at an early hour Saturday, after a short Illness. Mrs. Hewitt waa born at Council Bluffs, Iowa, March 30, 1688, where shs lived 34 years and where she waa united In marriage to Mr. Hewitt on January 1, 1013. She was a woman ot flnb Christian character, a loving mother, and will be missed by a host of friends. AP) Sheets of rain swept over Cali fornia today, causing at least two deaths, bolstering lagging precipi tation totals and swelling streams to threatening proportions. Fireman Herman Oustafson, B8. was scalded to death when an engine of the California Western Railroad and Navigation Co. plunged through storm weakened tracks near Fort Bragg. The swollen Noyo river had undermined the tracks. Walter Marvin, 63. Alameda, was killed by an automobile, the driver of which was blinded by the rain. In the San Francisco bay area strong winds crashed plate glass windows, blow down trees, disrupted power lines and tore several yachts from moorings while basements were flooded. The Sierra Nevada mountains were swept with snow and rain. The Sacramento river near Colusa reached the 22 -foot level, pouring over the Colusa and Moulton weirs, 12 . miles apart, Fnrmers patrolled weakened levees between Colusa and Princeton. Snow in the northern part of the state diminished under the wetting while in the Yoeemlte district addl tlonal snow fell. While the storm which hit central and northern California late yester day moved In on southern Cali fornia, another was en route from the north and the state was sched uled for an additional drenching late tomorrow.
