With most everything else In the country coming out of the red. It 1s not surprising that 1935 was a banner financial year, as far as athletics was con cerned. The promoter will be on a particular lookout for llght-heavywelght stars weighting be tween IBS and 200 pounds. Before leaving on the trip he stated that Med ford and Klamath Falls had shown a remarkable preference for this size man, because of their speed. The heavier men, with their ponderous movements, and the lighter, quicker miacueweighta, have never proven popular with local audiences, Llllard stated, REAPllST ON TICKETS TO BOWL PALO ALTO. If there were any way to pick the winners before the game, there wouldn't be much to Interest anyone. Which reminds us of a peculiar angle on wrestling. Here l.i Medford we know at least 10 men who are rogular wrestling fans, who go overy week, but sre firmly convinced that each fight la "fixed." They can never pick the one to win beforehand, but are convinced that the fighters and the promoter know not only the wlnnor, but the time In which he will win. The peculiar thing about that la that we can see no reason for fixing a fight here. There Isn't a great deal of betting going on, aside from the two-bit stake you might moke with your office boy in order to Impress him with your worldly knowledge of the wrestling art. or If you happen to be an office boy, the two-bits you bet with the boss in order to keep the old boy In a good humor. And It Is betting that fixes fights. If the promoter knows Klin Is going to win the hniit, and there Is money to be made In knowing (hat, then there would he some point In his fix ing the fiasco, hut hardly under the set-up here. They might he fixed, of course, but we don't think so, nfter talking to 110 or 80 wrestlers from time to time. PASADENA, Calif., Dec. 28.
