The solid steel Turret Top Fisher body is now used on the Standard as weH as tbe Master De Luxe models. Either Knee-Action or conventional springing may be bad in the Master models. Crowds of motor fans enjoyed the Initial showing of the smart new t93fl Chevrolet ytsterday at the showrooms of Rogue River Chevro let, Inc., Med ford dealers. Those who Inspected thn attractive new cars wholeheartedly acclaimed It as the greatest value ever to bear the pop ular Chevrolet name-plate. Two complete lines of cars, the .pew Mnster De Luxe and the new itardard, comprise the Chevrolet bid for America's preference In 1036. Both models are alike In major me chanical features and style advance ments, each offering such values as perfected hydriuiUe brakes, higher swmpreiwlon onglne of 79-horflepower, ; fclgher and narrower radiator grille of j brilliant now design, new style side- mounted headlamps, and turret top body by Fisher. The chief difference between the two new Chevrolets la In the wheelbase. The standard Is now lengthened to 109 Inches, with a gain of 13 Inches In overall length, and an Increase of 135 pounds In weight. The Master De Luxe Chevrolet for 1038 Is offered with either the time proved knee-action or with conven tional springing. Outstanding among the many new features of both master de luxe and standard models are Improved en gines having higher compression ratio (8 to 1); balanced carburetor; full-length water jacketing and other Improvements resulting In greater gasoline and oil economy; the, Cromodlne rust -prevention of fend ers and running boards. Front doors of all models of both lines are hinged at the front. Spoke-type pressed steel wheels are used on standard models. An Important Innovation bringing a more comfortable ride Is found In the design of the front seating ar rangement of the master de luxe coach and town sedan. Instead of the usual- divided and hinged front seat, a single seat cushion extends the full width ofUe.. car and ac commodates three ' passengers with ease. The seat buck Is divided and the right section la-hlnged so that It folds forward and creates a pas sageway to the rear seating compartment. Chevrolet's all-enclosed knee-action units, now entering their third year, remain unchanged from, their original design, except for an Im provement In the method of attach ing the wheel spindle to the support arm. The riding comfort and driv ing ease ushered Into motoring by knee-action suspension two years ago, have been carried to new heights in t))n 1B36 line. Generalizing an opinion upon the appearance of the 1938 Chevrolets, "smoothness" Is the keynote of their changed aspect. Rounded contours, characteristic of the turret top fun damental of construction, prevail throughout the cars. In fact, the only flat surfaces are the plate glass windshields and windows. (AP) A Rhode lsand Red hen that "rode the rods" neorly loo miles on a freight train between Klamath Falls and Bend was the talk of the railroad yard here today. Apparently the hen hopped on the rods at Klamath Palls to roost for the night, Harold Williams, railroad em ploye, related. When the train start ed moving over the snow-covered central Oregon plains, the hen re mained on her perch. When the train pulled Into the local yards, the Rhode Island Red riding hen was discovered.
