(Bert) Sutherland, 65. for many years prominently identified with Roseburg and Douglas county finan cial circles, died suddenly at his home here last night as the result of a heart aliment. He was born January 18, 1870, at Palatine, 111., where he became train ed In accounting'. In 1802 he accom panied a group of Chicago sportsmen to Oregon on a hunting trip, and de cided to remain in Douglas county making his home here for the past 43 years. At the time of his death he was president of the Umpqua Savings and Loan company. Mr. Sutherland was a member of the Masonic and Elks lodges. He is survived by his wife, former ly Mrs. Jean B.
