SEPTEMBER 6. 1935 VALLEY SCHOOL OPENS WONDAYMORNINGWITH MM NEW ACTIVITIES kf TTie Valley School will open Mon Uy, Sept. 0, tills yew offering sev eral extra-curricular activities in ad dition to the standard school sub ject heretofore included, supple mented by entirely new features of study Introduced this year under an enlarKPd teaching staff of four. The school hns been taken ovw and ex panded by Miss Mary Foster, former Instructor at the Crestvlew Kinder garten at Los Angeles. Although names of ths new teach ers have not yet been released, the staff will Include a man-teacher for supervision of the playground, who will also Introduce for the first time, a course In manual training. Extra-curricular courses will In clude French, rhythmic dancing, art and dramatics. Tha standard courses comply with the Oregon state course of study. Mtss Foster will serve or ange Juice to the students this year as a health feature, and all possible clasAes will be held out-of -doors. Lunch period wilt be supervised out-of-doors, and each student w.M be provided a cot out-of-doors when the weather permits for rest periods. Lunches will be provided for students who do not bring them from home. Miss Foster has arranged to care for nursery children If parents wish to leave them at the school during the day. ' With 30 enrolled so far, which Is a larger attendance than last year, the continued growth of the school Is as sured. 1 Freak Tornado Hits Maryland Village JEWELL. Md., Sept. 6. (UP) A freak tornado swept through here late Wednesday, demolishing houses and barns and disappearing bo the northeast after 15 minutes of fury. There were no casualties, although several persons narrowly esr&ped In Jury from flying debris. Surplus hay la selling fast In the Antelope district.
