Miss Mary Kem To Spend Remainder Summer at Lake Miss Mary Kem left this morning by stage for Crater lake, where Bhe will spend tho remainder of the sum mer and will sing during the regular evening programs at Crater lake lodge. She is expected to return September 20. the close of the season In the national park. Miss Kem has had as a visitor In Medford during the past several days, Miss Martha Warren of Corvallis. who will remain until tho first of the week as a guest at the H. D. Kem home. Hal McNalrs Return From Vacation In East Mrs. Hal McNalr and son James, of Ashland, returned to southern Ore gon a few days ago from a six weeks' vacation In Kansas city. Mo. They were accompanied on the motor trip by Mrs. McNalr s sisters. Mrs. M. East man. Mrs. H. E. Hawkins and chil dren Betty and Bill, of southern Cali fornia. In Kansas City they were guests of J. T. Williams, grandfather of the ladles. During the return drive they visited numerous national parks and other places of Interest. Visitor From Honolulu Guest Here at Tohln Home. Guests In Medford this summer have Included many from tha soutn and east, and among the few who have arrived from farther point la Mrs. H. Wltrow of Honolulu, T. H.. who came this morning on the Shasta to be a guest during the en suing two months at the Ed Tobln home. 326 Alice street. Mrs. Wltrow hss been spending the past several weeks in San Francisco following her voyage from the Islands. Miss Barbara Kent iter Ends Visit In Medford. Miss Barbara Kentner left for her home In Santa Barbara yesterday arter a pleasant stay at the home of her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. T. J Kenney. Before her departure eho enjoyed a week on the Oregon coast, going by way of Bend where she was the guest of Mrs. J. C. Van dervert. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Leave By Train for Northern Visit. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Owen, ac companied by Mrs. W. E. Fontaine, left Isst evening on the train 'or Portland and other cities In the north. Mrs. Owen and Mrs. Fontaine will spend the ensuing two or three weeks visiting. Mr. Owen expected to return at once. H Mrs. I. 1. (UP) Corvallis believes it has some sort of a new record. Five couples who have been mar ried 50 years or more all live in tnc same city block. All came from the middle-west, but have lived in Ore gon for many years. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wilt have been married 61 years. They came from Wyandotte county. Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Stelnman. married 52 years, are from Bloomingdale, Mich. For 51 years Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lance, Penn more. Wis., have been man and wife. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. McFarland. Lucas county. Mr. and Mrs Lawrence Eetrhome returned to their home tn Honolulu after visiting at the home of Mrs. Ecehome's uncle, Ellis Garrett. The Eeghome's have spent several months in the United States visiting the states of Florida, Texas. New Mexico, Colorado. Arizona. California and Orepon. Mr. Ecshome liked this lo cality better than anything he had visited and expects to locate here as isoon a a he disposes of his Honolulu business. The Holcomb mineral aprinsrs has been a popular resort this summer with distant Oregon people as well as many from California. Mr. Hol comb states that in spite of the fact that California has highly advertised mineral Fprtngs. he always has plenty of Californlans in his cabins throughout the year. J Dale of Drain visited last week with Mrs. Glenn Spurlln. Friends of John Day are pleased to learn of his recent bethrothal to Miss Man, Parsons of Seattle, and well known in MedTord. John, the son of Judge and Mrs. E. B. Day, is a recent graduate of the Orezon university and well thought of in this district where he was a former high school student. Thirty members of the community attended the Sams Valley Grange picnic at McCloud Sunday. The pic nic was held at the spacious home of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Glass where members of the McCloud Grange also assembled After a bounteous basket dinner, swimming and horseshoe pitching were enjoyed. Everyone vot ed Mr. and Mrs. Glass fine hostesses. House guests at the Glenn Spurlin home this week are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Winters and family of Denver. Colo. Mrs. Winters is a sister of Mrs. Spurlin and recently spent a week visiting a brother at The Dalles. Miss Flossie Case was married to Lester Arnold In Medford Saturday evening. Both young people are well known here, the bride being & grad uate of the Sams Valley high school class of '32. where she was quite pop ular as the school poetess. During the noxt two and a half months men from relief rolls will carry out control work in pasturca. following procedures originally work ed out by members of the Oregon State college station staff. Control consists of eliminating swampy areas where possible, or treating them with chemlcnl to de stroy the snul which acts a elter nate carrier or "host" for the flukes. The campaign is nation-wide.
