Conduct Memorial Service L?st Monday evening at the invitation of the Sister lodge of Grants Pass, the local Olive Rebekah lodge draped the charter In memory of the late broth er Lamphere of Grants Pass. Due to severe electric storm earlier In the evening, electricity throughout the city had been shut off, and the cere mony was conducted by candle light entirely In harmony with the occas ion. The regular Memorial team could not be assembled, but the substi tutes very ably did their part. Eventually he wandered to this country, always staying near ships and shipyards. In 1917 Stack worked on war ves sels in the Bremerton, Wash, ship yards, but It wasn't until 1926 .when he was seated In Portland's down town park- blocks that the idea sud denly came to him to build a ship on pontoons. Between 1926 and 1929 he carved out models and ::r.r.!ly obtained a patent.
