(UP) Even the birds apparently have adopted the clgaret habit. A blaze in the home of Mrs. Mabel Gallagher here was attributed to a sparrow which had been seen to carry a lighted "fag" to its nest in the eaves. Dam age W. 195 Almanac Found. RHINELANDER Wis. (UP) An almanac printed in Stockholm, Swe den in 1795 was found recently by Roy Johnson, Rhlnelander business man, In an old trunk. The paper and printing are well reserved, but the thread binding la frayed. (AP) Work had been started here today on a distilling plant which the operators say will cost $100,000 and will use apples, pears, prunes, and potatoes In the production of brandies and wines. The Columbia Wine & Distillery company la building the plant about three miles north of Vancouver. The first unit, of concrete, will be three stories high and about 40 by 90 feet in dimension. The second unit, housing the rectifying plant, will be built next year. The first distillery unit will be ready thla fall. Fresh fruits will be used In season, and dried fruit will be used at other times. FAILS 10 WORK HERE A new chiseling racket has put In an appearance here.
