The governor Insisted he did not want the capltol financing project put to a vote of the people, because the "croakers" could be expected to oppose an adequate structure. The executive reiterated that an adequate building could be con structed for 3,600,000 and declared that the financial condition of the state's general fund was the best In 10 years, making It possible for a special session of the legislature to vote a continuing appropriation to match promised federal contributions.
