JuW U (SpU An nouncement was made today of the sale of the Curtis Milter property on Bardlne creek to F. N. Tygart of Sayre, Okla. The sale was made by Mrs. C D. Elhart of Ashland, who Inherited the property from her uncle, the late Mr. f Miller. Preliminary negotiations for the transaction were handled by Mrs. Elhart's sister. Mrs. Perry Walt of Sardine creels. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. With his wife and two children. Mr. Tygart came to Oregon a few months aso, driven out of Oklahoma by the dust storms. The family set tled temporarily In Klamath Palls, but became Interested In this section of the state through Mrs. Tygarfs sister. Mrs. Larence Kirtley. The Klrtleys. also former residents of Sayre, settled on Sardine creek a couple of months ago. purchasing the John Rltter property on the right fork. They have been enthusiastic about this section of Oregon and re cently, when the Tygarta came here for a visit, they also decided to settle on sardine creek. The Miller property consists of 80 acre6. a small residence and several outbuildings. About 10 acres of the land are cleared, seven of them being In fruit trees. The Tygarta plnn to farm the land. Mr. Tygart being an experienced farmer. Mrs. Tygart and the children have taken up residence at their new home and will be Joined by Mr. Tygs.-t as soon as he completes his business In t . Klamath Falls. The children. Mary Lucille. 11. and Henry Maurice, 6, ill enter the Sardine creek school In the fall. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Reed, also of Sayre and the parents of Mrs. Kirt ley and Mrs. Tygart, will soon become residents of Oregon too, according to a telegram received today by Mrs. Kirtley. The telegram stated they had left Sayre for Oregon, coming via Los Angeles. They plan to make the Ir borne In Oold Hill. Lake 0' the Woods IjAke o the woods, July ia. (Spl) Medford visitors who spent several days at the Lake o' the Woods resort over the Fourth of July we.-e: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perl. Dorothy f Nyswancr and Harry QUI. Colonel V. H. Paine of Medford spent three days at the lake visiting the Boy Scout Camp McLaughlin and enjoyed a rrip to Four Mile lake. Mr. and Mrs. Art Vroman of Klam ath Falls spent the Fourth of July and the following week-end at the lake. Major Owen and family of Med ford spent two days at the retort and expressed pleasure at their catch of bass. Sunday visitors from Medford in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Ron DeVore and party, George and Art Anderson. Rudy Jeschke is spending a week of bis vacation at the Lake of the Woods. Guests at the Henry Fluhrer cabin for the week Include Mrs. E. N. Vllm and house guest Mrs. Ktrkpatrlck. Mrs. Fred Schmidt, Mrs. Barnebutg, Mrs. Joe Htllls and Mrs. Bob Hart. Betty Vilm, who is spending the sum mer at the Lake o' the Woods, will spend part of the week with her mother. Glider Soars for 3fi Hours CRIMEA. U. S. S. R. Sardine Creek SARDINE CREEK, July 12. (Spl.) Wm. T. Newton and wife end mother-ln-lnw. Mrs. Jennie Branstet ter of Burlingame, Calif., spent luly 4th with his sister, Mrs. H. H. El.iart and family In Ashland, spent the fith visiting relatives here and in Grants Pass, then motored on to Portland the 6th, for a visit with his mother. Mrs. Eva Newton, and Mr. and Mra. Sutherland. He Also will make a business trip to Seattle and Van couver, B. C. j Ralph and Sam Dusenberry who have been employed at Galice, ore.. 1 for some time came up to spend the 4th with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Smith and cnil dren, Mr. and Mrs. L. Howe, enjoted a picnic dinner up Rogue river (he 4th. Burnls Dusenberry and wife of Tenant, Calif., visited friends and relatives here over the 4th of July holiday. Burnls la the youngest t-on of E. S. Dusenberry, and spent much of his childhood here. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Walt attended the celebration In Ashland the 4th and enjoyed a picnic dinner with the Elharts and Newtons. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Householder and Mr. and Mrs. John Burke of Los An geles who visited friends and rela tives here for two weeks, returned home last week. Mrs. Nina Dusenberry, Mabel nd Lester, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wright and children, Ralph Dusenberry, Mr. and Mrs. Burnls Dusenberry, were am.-.ng those from here who celebrated the 4th In Grants Pass. Mrs. D. C. Reams and children Cora and Roger, who are caring for the Chas. McMerrick place on Foots crrek during their absence- in California, spent Wednesday visiting Mrs. Lulu Dusenberry. George Smith and Ralph Dusen berry left Sunday morning for Ten ant, Calif., to look for employment. Mrs. Eva Smith and Mrs. Lulu Du senberry spent Tuesday afternoon visiting Grandma Vroman in Gold Hill. Raymond Lee, four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs Rob Dusenberry, for merly of this piece, narrowly crcaped losing an eye, during the celebration the 4th at Grants Pass. Some one In a passing car threw a bomb fire cracker, which exploded throwing rocks and gravel on several people; one sharp rock struck the boy on the right cheek Just under the eye cut ting a gash that necessitated the tak ing of several stitches. They all went from here to Bon anza where they will spend the sum mer with the Miller Brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lundy and daughter Nellie, and son Billy, of Pasadena, Calif., ripen t three days last week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bowen. The- small children of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schulz of Sams Valley were guests of their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Frink, during the week end of the Fourth. Election of officers was held for the Community Sunday school last Sunday. Mrs. Ruth la superintend ent, Mr. Lucas assistant superintend ent and Mrs. Sanderson, secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Sater and Miss Adams entertained the ladies with several games and stunts, among those given bring guessing contests, the Versatile Family Smith, birds, and several stunts were played on those present. Ernest Sanderson found a gas bal loon in the Sanderson pasture with a tag attached to It advertising a Grants Pass store. Beer and Hubert Beer drove up to mining property at the head of Big Apple gat Wednesday where Ed Marshall la employed to spend the day with him. Charles Stukel was seriously in jured Wednesday when the horse he was riding reared and fell back on him. He was rounding up cattle on the Dunn ranch. Andrew Briner and son of Wag ner creek were business callers In the valley Tuesday. j Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Davis spent the week-end at Diamond lake. All the wheat growers of the valley are busy harvesting their wheat this week. Ivan Olsen is doing the binding for them all. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Hedges and granddaughters. Patricia and Joyce Marshall and T. R. Hughes spent Sunday, evening with Mr. and Mrs. Lytle. Mr. and Mrs. R. Dewlt. former residents of the valley, were in the valley on business Wednesday. Mrs. Fred Bussey has received word from her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Lewis Bussey at Oil Fields, Calif.. that she has been ill due to chronic mastoid. It may be necessary for an operation and if so they will be un able to come here on their vaca tion, which la soon. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bussey' visit has been antici pated by a good many friends here. There were nine members present and one guest. Wanda Mae Gasper, who is spending the summer with her aunt, Mrs. Mincnr. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Howard have received word from Los Angeles tell ing of the death ot their daughter. Mrs. Ethel Kern. Mrs. Kern was born In Ashland and went to school in the Oak Grove district, where she spent most of her life. Her brother. Roy Howard, left Monday for Los Angeles to attend the funera. P. J. Anderson, manager of the Kellogg Transfer Co. of Spokane, is visiting his sister, Mrs, L. 8. Van dever, here. Dickie Saltmarsh who was badly burned Monday morning la Improv ing. Mr, and Mrs. F. H. They returned the ninth. Mr. and Mrs. L. Pennington spent the week-end at Diamond lake. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Lundy enter tained with a lawn party Sunday evening. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Har vey Eblnger and Lieutenant and Mrs. Mattlson. Mr. and Mrs. Abellng of Cash mere, near Wenatchce, Wn., weje visiting their uncle, C. O. Hansen, last week. Mrs. Irene Moreland Is expected to arrive within the next fortnight to take po-wssion of the old Dow property on the left forit of Sardine creen. S-.f will be accompanied by her par ents. wo will live with her. The Dow property was acquired Inte in 1933 by the C. L. Studwells. who came here from New York City. They made several Improvements. Includ ing the erection of a caretaker's house and spacious 10 -room loft home. Before they completed their plan of modernisation, however, they moved to Seattle, and now they are resldlnp In Kallspell. Mont. While here. Mr Stud well served m sub-chairman of Oregon's Diamond Jubilee mining committee. Last January, Mrs. Moreland came here from Jasonvllle. Ind., In search of property. In March she purchased the Sardine creek property from the Studwells. She then returned to Ja sonvllle to dispose of realty holdings. Recent floods in the midwest hnve delayed her return to Oregon. She and her parents will travel by motor car. The property here comprises 160 acres, about 12 of which are cleared. The lew; residence la considered a showplaco of It kind and a model of the house was exhibited last spring at the Chamber of Commerce In Med ford. Most of the work was done by hand. The lotfa were all hand-hewn, all the doors and window frames wore made by hand, and the hardware, fashioned like latches, was wrought by a Gold Hill blacksmith. A unique feature is that the partitions, as well as the exterior, are logs. The house was constructed by J. D.
