Managsr E STEELHEAD TMMrt rr Till- 111 ML U ALL NUCHS5 NE In the September Issue of "All Star Adventure Fiction," magazine pub lished In Chicago and with editorial rooms In New York, will appear an article in the hunting and fishing department, entitled "Rogue River ateelhead." An advance copy of the Issue has been received here, and in dicates the Interest In fishing on the Rogue engendered by the closing of the river to commercial fishing. Some time ago the magazine aked for Information about the river. This was supplied by A. H. Banwell, man ager of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Much of the Informa tion supplied at that time Is reprint ed in the magazine, and the editor .added : "A million thanks to you. Mr. Ben well, indeed, it is good news. It always seemed a ahame to us that commercial fishing In the Rogue wasn't stopped long before this. We're a long way from Oregon at this mo ment, but we can close our eyes and picture the thrill we experienced the first time we hooked a 12-pound ateelhead and fought it out with him for 60 minutes with a light fly-rod. "Which reminds us that here's a chance to start a good argument. Mr. Banwell has called the steelhead a salmon. The Oregon game commis sion has classified It as a trout. Frankly, we don't know, but we'd like to hear from book experts on the subject. , "No matter whether he's a salmon or a trout, he's got more fight In him per pound than any other fresh water fish.' The magazine, of the pulp variety. has a tremendous circulation, and Is read by sporting enthulaata all over the world. The article printed in re gard to the river's closure la but one of many, but serves to Illustrate the tremendous Interest that is being taken In the matter by those who hsve either fished here In the past, who have heard about the river, or who Intend to come here some time In the future.
