Off the coast of Futamlgaura, near the grand hrlnes of Shinto at lac, 250 mitea southwest of Tokyo, Japan, are two picturesque rocks known to the Japanese from the dawn of history as the husband-and-wife-rocks. From time Immemorial they have been Joined together by huge ropes of straw, which each spring are renewed by Shinto priests with rites that re older than written history.
