On Rader hill. Just south of Phoe nix. many were to gather at 6:00 o'clock this morning for the annual sunrise services, perhaps the most exhilarating and impressive rites of the day. Several churches were to take part In the program, put on under auspices of Crater Lake Christ' isn Endeavor Union. Talks by three members of the young peoples or ganlntlon, special music, scripture readings and prayer have been pre pared. Holy communion wlU be celebrated at the Episcopal church at 7:00 m., and again at 8:00 a. m. There will also be baptismal service and the regular morning service with the sermon at the Episcopal enurcn. At the Sacred Heart Catholic church, high mess will be held at 8:00 a. m. Low mass and benediction will follow. In the Impressive litur gical observance of Easter. A special Sunday echool service will . be a feature at the Presbyterian morning worship. The evening Christ Ian Endeavor meeting wlU not be held, due to the sunrise service at Phoenix. Evangelist Philip Sldersky will give his last lecture on the Jews return to Palestine this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock in the Baptist church. He will also speak at the Easter service at 11 o'clock. Members of Church Missionary Society Meet, Daniel Home The Women's Missionary society of the Presbyterian church met at the home of Mrs. R. 8. Daniels, 407 Park street Tuesday aiternoon, with a large group in attendance. Mr. E Iveion led the devotion naming Tuesday as the day of con troversy and emphasising the need of prayer now more than ever be fore. Mrs. Hodektns sang a so:o. ''The Old Rugged Cross." Following the business meeting. Mrs. O. J. Oould read some Interest ing art icles from women and missions and Miss Laura Bailey. Echoes From the World's Book of Prayer. Mrs. Frederick H. Johnson spoke of the Near East, those countries adja cent to the eastern and northern end of the Mediterranean. She save a splendid review of the Near East Foundation, stressing the point that, though this Is not a religious work in itself, aa the relief society u not allowed to Interfere with the religion and customs of the people, the Christian Influence Is so strong that It Is of great religious va tie and a great movement for world peace.
