Army Planes Through Five army pursuit ships stopped at the muni cipal airport today for fuel, enroute from Wright field, Riverside, Cal., to Seattle, where they will be worked over at the Boeing plant. They were under the command of Flight Lieut. Helm. Forty similar ships are ex pected to go through Medford In the next few days, according to airport oflclals. FIRST AID CLASS Miss Msrjorle Eelly, who has been In charge of the first aid class that has been conducted periodically at the Medford fire hall under auspices of the Red Cross, announced ted ay that the work has been completed and that 15 certificates have been awarded. The meetings were held each Monday and Wednesday night and 20 hours of Instruction was held over a period of nine weeks. All who took the tests passed, ac cording to Miss Kelly, who worked under the supervision of Beth Bullls, chairman of the county Red Cross first aid, committee. Those awarded certificates were: Laurence Espey. W, L. Jones, Hugh Rttter. J. R. Winn and M. L. Ted row, U. S. forest service; A. W. Lin- gass and W. P. April 1 (AP)Former President Hoover's criticism of the Roosevelt adminis tration was assailed here today by Representative Lee (D.-Okla.), who at the same time defended the New Deal aa a "humanitarian program." In an address prepared for delivery at a luncheon club, the Oklahoma congressman declared that "as a statesman, Hoover la a good food ad ministrator." "Hoover now cornea out of the storm cellar and says there wasn't any storm," he asserted. "It la wonderful what two years of rest has done for hi mind. April 8 (AP) All able bodied persons on relief rolls In Ore gon who have or can gain access to available land will be required to plant, cultivate and maintain a sub sistence garden, the state relief com mittee announced today through the executive office here. The new ruling was adopted as a policy of the committee to assist families to provide more adequately for their own needs and reduce the cost of relief for the states. Garden seed has been distributed throughout the state to all other persons on relief rolls having facili ties for complying with the order. (AP) The defense in the wife murder trial of David D. Lamson today accepted the state's challenge to perform the bathtub experiment which E. O. Heln rich, criminologist, testified had con vlnced him Mrs. Allene Thorpe Lam son was killed in an accidental fall. The state agreed to transport Its replica of the Lamson both-room to court, set it up directly opposite the Jury box and be prepared to perform the experiment Monday morning. LB. Dr. O. C.
