Picture At Rialto
With a cast containing some ol
Greenland's most outstanding play
ers. "Carnival" opened yesterday at
tha Rialto theater. Lee Tracy. Jimmy
Durante. Sally Ellen and twoand-
one-haif-year-old Dickie Walters, who
makes his motion picture debut in
this production, are the principal
players.
Crammed full of laughs, action.
thrill and suspense, this picture Is
due for a successful enpneement.
Wtttten by Robert Rlskln. author of
"Lady for a Day," "it Happened One
Night." and "Broadway Bill." "Car
nival" la a product he can be Justly
proud of. ,
Lee Tracy Is seen as a fust-talking
carnival man, who talks himself In
and out of Jams. When his wife dies
leaving him with an Infant son. he
flnda himself In a situation. He
wants to bring up the child.
'Toochy." himself, but the baby's
grandparents raise objections. Force
fully. Lee takea the baby from the
hospital. -
The welfare workers trace him
down. But Tracy enters "Poochy" in
Daoy contest. The kid hasn't a
chance In competition with the other
babies, but Durante and his dex
terous fingers switch votes and
"Poochy" la declared winner. The
hoax Is discovered and they're both
sentenced to serve time In Jail. The
climax Is one of the most thrilling
scenes the screen has ever shown.
Tracy once again turns in a fine
performance as Chick Thompson.
The famous Durante offers plenty of
comedy relief and his achnoseola and
various and familiar antics are again
In evidence. Sally Filers is a beauti
ful "Daisy" and offers a commend
able portrayal. But as "Poochy."
Dickie Walters is hound to win the
hearts of all. His lines are spoken
like a veteran.
BING HAMPTON, N. Y.. April 1
(AP)Former President Hoover's
criticism of the Roosevelt adminis
tration was assailed here today by
Representative Lee (D.-Okla.), who
at the same time defended the New
Deal aa a "humanitarian program."
In an address prepared for delivery
at a luncheon club, the Oklahoma
congressman declared that "as a
statesman, Hoover la a good food ad
ministrator."
"Hoover now cornea out of the
storm cellar and says there wasn't
any storm," he asserted.
"It la wonderful what two years of
rest has done for hi mind. Why,
two year ago he couldn't think of a
thing to do to save the country and
now two years later la becoming very
fertile for ides."

Why You Should
NeverCut a Corn
If you are troubled with corns or
