Word of the threatened recall waa given -the newspapermen by the executive after he had Issued a state ment relative to the state relief situation in which he pointed out what the legislature and he were doing to provide relief. "Despite this showing, I received this letter today froz. Pendleton," he announced, and then read It as follows: "We stand one hundred per cent against your relief program as out lined and Senator Wagon's old age pension bill. Old people are not looking for dole or charity. Nor are we ready to accept blood money from our state saloons. "Should those bills be passed and you refuse to memorialize congress to pass the McGroarty bill, we stand ready to take the field in Umatilla county and elsewhere in the state for a recall measure for each and everyone who supports such legislation. "We work for those who work for us. "The Umatilla County Townsend Old Age Pension clubs, membership 12,000. B. E. Ander&on, president, by Frank W. Evans, secretary." Relief Action Cited.
