(Special) With travel main taining its consistent Increase over 1933. the current season attendance total for Crater Lake Is rapidly ap proaching the 90,000 mark. This fig- use represented the entire total lor last year up until October 1. Visitors from every state In the union and numerous foreign countries hare arrived this seasan, with espe cially large represenation from the eastern states. Much of the Increase is attributed to 1934 having been set aside by the Department of Interior as "National park year," encouraging travel to the nation's scenio wonders which In the past have often been passed by In favor of trips to Europe. Investigation has also revealed that visitors ace lingering longer In the park, often spending a week or more in contrast to stays of a day or two In past seasons. This situation is pointed out aa Indicative of motrlata not attempting to visit a large num ber of places in a limited amount of time at a Joy killing pace. Riviera RIVIERA. Aug. 17. (Spl.) MADISON, Wis., Aug. 17. (API- Senator Robert M. LaFollette declar ed today In a personal platform on which he will base his campaign for re-election that a "genuine political realignment la necessary for the pres ervation of American democracy and Its free Institutions," and that "the new progressive party of Wisconsin has shown the way by making a clear- cut division of the Issues." 'It is not to be expected," the sen ator said, "that progressives ran sub scribe to uniform views upon all questions with which the government must deal. It would be a mistake not t" recognlre, however, the strength and the vast resourcee of the Interests working In combination through old party machines. Progressives Must I'nite "I earnestly believe that all pro gressives must Join forces in this crisis to prevent a return to the old order that threw the nation In 1939 Into the worst economto disaster of modern times." Senator LaFollette, leader of the new Wisconsin party created by the political following originally attract ed by his rather, addressed his state ment to the electorate. President Boose ve it. In his recent Green Bay speech, mentioned La Fol ic tie's co-operation with the admin istration program. Four of the senator's plank set forth: The farmer is entitled to a profit sr. his Investment above the cost of production. Comfortable Life Urged Labor must have the right to or ganize without Interference from em ployers. There must be shorter hours, a shorter week, and wages which will give a comfortable life. The people should control credit through a government -owned central bank, which, will make centralisation of credit In private hands Impossible. If private employment falls, then the government should provide every person nble and willing to work with a Job at decent wages. THE GRANGE (By Gertrude Haak) The Orange petroleum products selling co-operative Is making splen did progress In Its organisation, and It Is expected to have the organiza tion so perfected In ft very ihort while that It will be ready to sell petroleum products to Its members. On Wednesday night et the Central Point Orange hall a considerable number of Interested Grangers gath ered. After a few disinterested par ti Pa were excused, the meeting was opened with Arnold Bohnert of Cen tral Point In the chair. After con siderable discussion of the project the delegates from each Orange group of members gave their reports and It was found that the member ship and gallonage already secured was sufficient to proceed with the organization. ' Each delegates reported that Tery little time had been given to secur ing members, that the surface of membership possibilities was barely touched. So the future looks very bright for the Garge co-op. After this meeting was adjourned theae delegates, who will constitute the first board of directors (esch one having been elected by the co-op members of hts Orange group to of ficially act In that capacity), held their first meeting The directors are: Eugene Moore of Enterprise Grange, Perry Walt of Live Oak, George McDonough of Sams Valley. W. E. Davles of Eagle Point, Victor Burse H of Central Point, Ches ter Wendt of Jacksonville, Csrl Borg of Talent, George Andrews of Bull view, O. C. Maust of Phoenix, Edwin Taylor of Applegate and Roscoe Rob erts of Roxy Ann. Lake Creek was the only Orange not represented and they will doubtless have their dlrec tor there at the next meeting. Vic tor Bursell was elected temporary chairman, and W. E. Davles tempo rary secretary. An early meeting Is called of the directors to perfect all legsl end oth er detail preparatory to doing bus I ness. Thus Is launched the first large co-operative buying and selling ven ture or the Orange In Jockson coun ty. The parent organization, how ever. BOBBED HAIR PUIS DOLORES DEL RIO IN DRESS UP ROLE By BOBBIN COONS HOLLYWOOD Dulcet . voiced Dolores del Rio la philosophical about the matamorphoala that has taken her from native girl parte to a modem woman on the screen. "Bobbing my hair did It," he x- plaln. "That, and a bit of luck." 'I thought I d never get any chance to wear pretty clothes In pictures," she confided. "You see, I hsd been a balf-caate girl In the movies for so long that nobody could visualise me aa anything else." Thl wa a confeealon from one of th best dressed women on the screen. She played a primitive girl In "The Bird of Paradise," and from then on he remained , primitive girl. Onos you undress before the cam era you must keep It up," she aald. My first picture, 'The Bird of Para dise,' wa 1 great success, Judged by It box offlo appeal. It wa previewed at flanta Barbara. The critic were lavleh in their praise. The picture wa almost my undoing, however. I wa typed. "I hated those role, but It waan't until recently I had my chanoe to play anything else. I used to feel so gay at parties In my evening clothe. I worried constantly, though, wondering: why the directors wouldn't give me modern psrt. I'd stand In front of a mirror at home and aak myself what was worn;. "I finally Csclded to bob my hair, No sooner had I reached that con- clualon than the Job was done. Really, It wa the 'open sesame' to a new career on the screen. I had a bit of luck along about that time, It 1 true, but f had removed myself from any possibility of being cast a native girl." Dolores' climb ha been steady and aur alnc. Her lateat picture. "Madame Du Barry," h conaldera her very beat. "Ever alnce t thought of acting l'v alwaya wanted to play Du Barry," ah aald. "It Ja grand part, and I enjoyed so much making It."
