Of this aum, 8S,000 was expended by the regional office. That spent locally has been dis tributed among 39 activities includ ing maintenance of roads, trails, tele phone lines and buildings, approxi mately 50,000; construction of roads, trails, telephone lines and buildings, approximately 350,OO0; projects car ried on under emergency conserva tion work by CCO, approximately 350. Construction of the 20,000 forest se.rvloa warehouse on the McAndrews road, one-half mile east of the Pacific highway, started Thursday, wun a crew secured through the federal em ployment agency. No applicant are received at the forest service offices. Janouch aald. and all carpenter are taken from civil servloe roll. Work will be provided for 13 or 15 men on thl project for two month, with a crew engaged at present In laying S200 feet of pipe to the main water line. The warehouse project will include an 80x100 foot warehouse, a 78x38 foot storage building, and a gasoline and oil station. Big Ash Foreman. Another project stnrtlng yesterdsy. the road from Dead Indian soda springs to the Aflhland-Doad Indian rond, together with the road from the soda springs to Pish lake, which Is now underway, providea employment for 80 local men, also hired through the federal employment service. This project, costing 24.000. will enable motorist from Medford to make the trip to Pish lake either by way of Desd Indian aoda springs or Ashland.
