Child Badly Burned Sylvia Eakln. 18-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Eakln of 107 Mistletoe, suffered severe burns on her face, shoulder and body lest evening, when she tipped over a cup of hot grease that was on the stove. Crombie of the Pacific northwest forest ati tlon, left this morning for Big Elk ranger station to make an inspeotlon of the Big Elk-Dead Indian Soda Springs road construction camp. Fire at Trail Creek A small forest fire at Trail creek, near Hannah's place, waa put under control last evening by six forest service men. under the supervision of Fred War ner, superintendent of Upper Rogue CCC camp. One man is patrolling the scene today. Plan Picnic The annual Nebraska picnic will be held in the Grants Pass city park, with dinner being served at 3 p m. Each person attending is requested to bring his own lunch and coffee. All those who were present at the picnic In Ashland last year, and any other Nebraska people In this section, are invited to attend. No Labor Needed Lewis Ulrtch. manager of the local National Reem ployment offices, announced this morning that no labor Is needed at present for the resurfacing of the three-mile stretch of the Crater Lake highway between Eagle Point and Agate station. Counties Included Jackson and Josephine counties are now included under the supervision of E. L. Vinton of Marshfield. district SERA engineer, It was announced today at SERA headquarters. The change waa made due to the recent appointment of W. M. Pinkney of Portland as Inspector of coast bridges. - Delayed Election Bet Sam Hous ton, superintendent of mails at the postofflce, is the victim of a delayed election bet. During the presidential campaign, Houston received a letter from a friend in Frankfort. Ky., wat ering a shirt against the probability of Hoover's election. Houston prompt ly returned the wsger. Until yester day he had received no answer, but today he is the envy of fellow em ployes, bedecked in a brilliant sal mon pink shirt. Charlea Bartholomew Oswald died at the home of Mrs. Jsne Kent at 401 East 5th street early Thursday morning from a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Oswald waa born at Wurtumburg, Germany, September 10, 1846, and came to the United States at the age of IS years. He had been a resi dent of Jackson county for 41 years and of the state 48 years, living on his farm In the Antelope district for 41 years. He leaves two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Lottie M. Savage. Oroville, Calif.; Mrs. Blanche V. Holmes, Salem, Ore.; Charles O., and Benjamin J., Eagle Point, Ore.; Joseph P. Oswald of Medford and three grand. children. Funeral services will be held at the Perl Funeral Home Saturday at 3:00 o'clock, Rev. W. J. Howell, officiating. Interment in Central Point cemetery. The "Oregon Express" sails from San Francisco Saturday noon. Mediation agreement In the longshoremen's strike means the pears will be loaded without difficulty. First of the Eastern market ship ments are scheduled to be under way by Saturday. Cannery shipments to the Willamette valley and California are being made daily.
