The num ber of old age pensions granted now totals 157. There has been a decline In the number of applications the past six weeks.. The average amount paid each pen sioner Is between 11 and 12, which Is slightly higher than In most Ore gon counties where the pensions are granted. A number of counties have not yet started payments owing to depleted state of finances. In this county all applications have been checked extensively end a num ber rejected because the applicant did not come under the provisions of the old age pension law as to age, length of residence In the state, or had chil dren able to provide for them. A number of applications await signing of property reimbursement assign ments. The law requires that if an old person owns more than $3000 worth of property he agree to assign it to the count.
