There will be a courtesy exhibit of bows and archery material made by the late Friend Barnea of Forest Grove, the famous archer and bow maker, whoae reputation was as great In England as In the United States. His famoua longbows will be on ex hibit In the president's office at Marsh hall. Dr. Goor;e A. oathey, former flight champion, will bo field captain, Mrs. Noyes B, Tyrrell will be lady para mount. Homer Prouty, for three yean and still the national flight champion, will shoot on the targets on the campua In the morning and have charge of archers' and golfers' contests on the Forest Hills course In the afternoon. At the close of the target shoot, the clout will also be shot on the campus. The targeta will be placed on the athletic field, which haa the advantage of an excellent range and a grandstand for the gallery. Lunch eon will be aerved at McCormlck hall, the boya' dormitory, at la o'clock noon. Referee Ray Friable worked fast to untangle the clevor leg hold in both falls, and Martin limped painfully out of the ring. The Indian chief slugged Bun ny under the ropes to lose the second fall by a decision, but took the match wit hthe first .and third falls by vir tue of the punishing death lock. which the agile Martin was unablo to evade. Roland Warren, 163-pound grap pling Copoo engineer from Klamaih Palls, took the opening match of the evening, a handicap affair, when Bull Bon Vlsln, IBB pounds, of Salt Lake City, failed to secure two falls in the allotted 30 minutes. Warren was awarded one fall on a foul when the utahan slugged him under tho ropes. Bon Vlsln, a circus strong man, prov ed he could bend nails and break them In his hands, but was unable to make good his boast that he could throw the engineer twice In 30 min utes, and was booed out of the arena by the majority of the fans, who fav ored the more agile Warren throughout. Swede Anderson, local, flreboy, Issu ed a challenge to the Salt Lake nall bender, and should give him plenty to think about if the two are matched. Jack Mitchell, who claims to be one of the beat middleweight wrea- The Rogue Valley Golf club Is going to have some new mats for the tecs, If plans for the tournament commit tee, which met Wednesday night at the Hotel Medford work out, accord ing to Larry Schaue, chairman of the committee. A mat tournament played on i point-par basis, Is planned for Satur day and Sunday, May 12 and 13, and the entire proceeds from the tour nament will be used to purchase mats, which are already ordered. Through the courtesy of Weeks and Orr, fur niture dealers, one of the ma's will be placed on the first tee, just to show the golfers what they are playing for, because prizes will be the mats them selves. Names On Mats. In other words, Schade pointed out, the five winners In the tournament, or the five highest, will each get his name on one of the mats. The win ner's name will be painted on a plaque, and nailed to the edge of the mat. Tho women golfers of the club have already requested that they be allowed to play for one of the mats, and a tournament for the women will be held soon to see which of the women golfers gets her name on one of them. For several months the mats at the Rogue Valley club have been going to pieces, and visiting golfers, while charmed with the course as a whole, have all Complained of the mats. Most of the mats are so hard a tee can's be driven Into them, and others have great holes worn clear through them. With tho Shrine tournament coming up, and tho Jubilee tournament, with all the guests that will be here, the tournament committee felt that a mat tournament, to raise money to buy mats, should meet with the ap proval of every member of the club. All Hare Chnnce. The tournament committee, com posed of H. B. Kellom. F. C. Cone, and Schade, decided upon the point par basis of play for the tournament because It gives the dub member of the club as good a chance to win as It does, the good player. It all de-1 pends on whether he's hot or other wise. Bach player can get but one chance to win In the two days, If he pays only one entry foe of a dollar, but If any player wants to pay a dollar and play Saturday, and Isn't satisfied with his score, he can pay another dollar Sunday and try It again. R. O. Stephenson, of the Economy Lumber company, has agreed to do nate i-he lumber for making the mat fou f'.ntlons, and will have one of them constructed by Saturday noon. Might As Well Play! Schade also announced that all members might as well get In on the tournament, because all those who do not play In the tourney will be called upon personally by the mem bers of the tournament commltteo, and asked for a donation of a dollar or more to help pay for the mats. As some piayors plity every day, and others only once a week, Schode Bald some aro expected to dig deeper than others. The Idea of the mat tournament haa met with great approval by all members, as the mats have been disgrace to the club for months. It Is expected that the turnout Sunday will be one of the largest this year, for a purely local tournament, Schade said. Medford, this year, seems to be well started on Its way toward the Southern Oregon league pennant. The mystery club so far has been Grants Pass. The Medford -Ewuana baseball game scheduled at the fairgrounds Sunday, has been transferred to the Jackson ville ball park, due to the fact that workmen are already on the Job erect ing the enormous stage on the fair grounds diamond, to be used for the pageant during the coming Jubilee. Pans making the trip to Jackson ville will be treated to a twin bill, the Jacksonville Miners and the local Gil more Lions clashing in the first game of the doubleheader. This game wilt start promptly at 1 o'clock and will be a seven-inning affair. If the seven innings have not been played by 2:30 the game will be called, with the Rogues and Ewuana taktng the field. This arrangement will give the fans an opportunity of getting home at a reasonable hour.
