Coe, principal of the Jacksonville school was a visitor In Medford Saturday. Named Custodian Harold B. War den has been selected as custodian of the Elk Creek CCC camp, which Is being abandoned by Company 1747 for the summer months. Mr, Warden was formerly on duty with the CCC at headquarters. At Union Creek Laurence H. Smith, engineer from the Portland offices of the forestry service, has established his headquarters for the summer at Union Creek. Mrs. Smith, who Is now at McMinnvllle is expected to Join him about the first of May. Guests of Dlxons Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Volney Dixon last week were Floyd B. Hoffman, owner and manager of the Honey Lake Valley Telephone company of; Janesvllle, Lassen county, California,! Mrs. Hoffman and their two daugh ters, Mrs. Dermott Stiles of MUfordJ and Mrs. Ernest B. Hill, and husband, of Janesvllle. From Medford they planned to drive to Crater Lake, then to Lake Chelart via the Pacific and Columbia highways. After spending some time at Lake Chelan, the former home of Mr. Hill, they will visit the Puget Sound region, returning to California the last of the month by the Roosevelt and Redwood highways. Guards to Dine The annual "Get Together" banquet of Company A 186th Infantry, will be held at the Armory, Tuesday night, after the regu lar drill. A varied program of enter tainment is being arranged. This "an nual feed" is always held a few weeks previous to going to camp and Is a sort of get to gether of old and new members of the company. The camp; this year will be held at Camp Clat sop, near Seaside and Astoria, June 12 to 26. Company A at the present time has a full quota, but it is antici pated that there will be several changes In the personnel occasioned by the inability of several members to attend camp because of business rea sons. Class Has Meeting Business and social meeting of the Alpha Delta class of the Christian church was held in the recreation hall Thursday arternoon. The class president, Mrs. C. M. Hon, presided and -all sang, "Did You Ever Think to Pray." The devotionals were led by Mrs. N. T. Rankin who read the 13th chapter of 1st Corinthians and Mrs. W. H. Cain led in prayer. During the social hour Mrs. Rankin gave two readings and Mildred Buckles played a piano soId. Several contests were introduced and refreshments were served at a table decorated with spring flowers aud lighted candles. About 35 members and friends were present. Artist Is Ousted Ray Maddox, 34. of Detroit, Mich., was ordered out of town Friday by Chief of Police Cla tous McCredle, after he had collected sixty cents at three local stores, through a short change scheme. Mad dox told police that he was en route to Portland where he expected to get a Job as bell hop. Davis Makes Report C. W. Davis of 306 King street, reported to city police Saturday that Friday at 7 a. m., on the Pat Swain grade in the Big Apple gate district, the truck he was driving ' collided with the car Lyle Hard of Ruch was operating. Davis' report; said that the sharp turn made it im possible to stopat such a short dis tance. . Goes to Carberry As the forest service will be in charge of the winter, camp sites of the Civilian Conserva-J tion corps during the summer months. W. H. Dalrymple has been named custodian for the Carberry creek site, 1 It was announced Saturday by the forestry service. Mr. Dalrymple w. formerly a camp foreman with the; service. Bromley Take Pictures Moving pictures of the fleet of U. S. Navy amphibian planes which visited the i Medford airport yesterday were taken' by H. L. Bromley for the Copco news reel. The pictures of the novel "fly ing fish" will be added to the Copco reels covering the progress and devel opment of aviation at the local air ports. Report Accident Earl Croft and John Wilson, both of Gold Hill filed accident reports Saturday with the cfty police, concerning a collision Just off the Pacific highway on the Mid way road. The reports stated that Croft pulled onto the highway from the service station, and the motor cycle could not stop soon enough to avoid a collision. Rogers Gives Talk Members of the Copco Forum enjoyed an Interesting and Instructive talk on frost preven tion at their regular Thursday lunch eon last week. Roy W. Rogers of th3 fruit frost service of the U. S. weath er bureau was the main speaker and told many interesting things about his work in which he cooperates so closely with, the local fruitgrowers. Methods at arriving at frost predic tions and the effect of frost in vary ing degrees upon orchard fruits were among the points discussed by the speaker. Mr. Rogers Is well known in Medford having had seven years ex perience here In the Rogue valley while assisting Floyd Young. R. S. Daniels presided as chairman and sev. eral guests were present.
