(P) Ef fectlve April 1, stamps for all post offices In Oregon will be suppllod through the Portland postofflce, ac cording to an announcement by B. L. Hageman, Portland postmaster. At the present time first and second class offices In Oregon obtain their stamps direct from Washington, D. C, with third and fourth-class sta tions ordering from Portland. A report from Prof. T. C. Relmcr of the Southern Oregon Experiment station at Talent reveal ed a fall of 1.27 Inches there for tho same period. A report to the California Oregon Power company from Prospect this morning showed a total precipitation for the month of March of 1.B9 inches, which la considerably In excess of Medford's total of .67 for the month. The latter leavea a shortage of .03 lor Medford for this month, which may be filled before the end of the week, however. Up to 6 p. m. yesterday, .29 Inch of rain fell, the United States weather bureau reported here, and during the night, up to 8 a. m. today, the total fall vs .20 inch. According to Prof. Relmer, no ap preciable harm has been done to the process of pollenlzatlon now under way In yalley orchards. -t OF 10 It li a beautiful tree, the cedar of Lebanon, which marka the south west corner of the county court house grounds this week; all passers by agree to that, but few of them, It was revealed today, realize the true value of the tree, which was donated by N. 8. Bennett, local nurseryman, as a memorial to southern Oregon pioneers. Those w,ho have studied price lists on shribs and trees, however, do realize because many of them have found the purchase of such a cedar financially impossible. The tree was planted Monday, fol lowing the luncheon honoring pio neers who .have made their home In southern Oregon for 5 years, and constitutes a beautiful growing trib ute to the spirit which enabled the pioneers to carry on through many hardships to establish home and state. It is more than 14 feet In height now. Purchase of a small tree of the same variety, It was stated by a gardener today, Is beyond the reach ' of most home owners.
