A caravan will leave the chamber of commerce build ing at 0:30 Sunday morning for the park, arriving In ample time before the program begins. A craw of 10 men has been at work the past week completing the con struction c what is believed to be one of the b.sst ekl Jumps on the Pa cific coast. 8kl Stars Coming Jumpers, who have attracted na tional attention, 'Will be In competi tion Sunday as one of the features of the program, and leaps In the neigh borhood of 200 feet are expected. Snow will be In good condition for long dis tances and 1. tlU five feet deep. In other winter sports centers of the west, enow has disappeared weeks ago and has given way to spring flowers, making the Crater Lake tourney one of the most unusual staged In several years. Alfred Ohm, Iron wood, Mich., for mer holder of national championships, expects to equal his past records and establtsh a new record for aouthern Oregon. Ohm Is the only American born Jumper to have ever attained championship honors In this country. However, Jumpers f:om other sections of the coast win cause him worry. John Elvrum, , holder of the amateur record, of the Cascade Ski elub of Portland and Mt, Hood, will be on hand, 91 well as HJalmar Hvam and other Jumpers of the same club. Clubs Bent Entrants Thrt Bend Skyllners, ths Mt. Shasta ffiioffimen and The Rogue Snowmen , will all be represented In these events by Jumpers whose names have appear ed In the win columns numerous times. Handsome trophy cups will be awarded to the winners of the Jump'-1 jng events.' Pete Hed berg, winner of last year ski classic from Tnr Klamath to Crater Lake and return, Is one of the leading en trants in the class A division but will find that he Is not in the race alone. Hcreylre Clubs to Race Possibly one of the most entertain ing of the races will be the one-mile vent for service club members of Bend, Medford and Klamath Falls for the possession of the "Caterpillar" cup, a wandering trophy. -A number of local elub members are planning to enter and are determined the cup Is coming to Medford. The Slalom race will provide some thing new In snow sports, It consists of a down-hill race around obstacles at excessive speeds. Races have also been planned for grade school boys and high school girls. Tickets, being sold at a minimum tn defray expenses of the carnival, were placed on mle tn Medford this week, but can also be purchased at the Annie Springs checking station In the park. However, the early purchase of tickets Is urged to avoid confusion In the park. Local residents are also urged to Join the caravan Sunday morning,' as this will facilitate park? liig problems at Government Camp, where quite a large area has been cleared of anew. Lunch stands will be set up near the carnival grounds and a loud speaking system is being brought to the park throtgh the courtesy of the Standard Oil company. Program events and results will bo announced as quickly as they are scheduled. Rub bers or galoshes are advised for Sun day wear. Shasta. . With eight of the beat Independent cage teams of southern Oregon enter ed, play for the championship of the seoond annual Gold Hill Invitational basketball tournament will get undeT way this evening promptly at 7 o' clock. The games will be played on the high school gym court. The Butte Falls OCO team and Lang Rangers of Orants Pans will clash In the opener. Gold Hill and Rogue River are scheduled to play In the aeoond game at 8 o'clock: Butte Falls and Phoenix will mix at 9, and Sams Valley and St. Mary's of Med ford win bring the first round of the tourney to a close at 10 o'clock. The teams entered this year seem to be more evenly matched than last year. The Grants Pass team probably has the best record. They have won the city league In that town and have beaten a number of traveling semt pro teams Including the Los Angeles Hotentota. Sams Valley' also has a good outfit and Is figured to be a strong contender for the champion ship. Not much Is known of the Phoe nix team this year. Last season thoy were one of the lesdera and elimina ted the Gold Hill team In the first round of the tournament. Both But'.e Falls team are said to be strong. Winner of this year's tournament was the little Giants, whose cap tain was Herbert Olfford. Team mem bers were Hooker, Haber, Northcraft, McOraw, P. Lowry, Selmar Wright. Intramural basketball is an an nual function sponsored by the high school student body, to promote In terest In basketball for boys not on' the regular team. The teams were picked by the Order of "M" and were as evenly matched as possible. Bill Prentice, president of the Or der of "M," officiated in all games and had much to do with the suc cess of the season. The Basketeers, captained by Frank Hull and consisting of Blondle Lewis, Tom Harvey, Adams, B. Llttrell, J. Koppcn, Erlckaon and Fred Beck, took second honors. Ten teams, made u" pof approxi mately 90 boys, participated In this year's tournament. During this school year there have been no physical education classes and this activity has provided some exercise for the players.
