Brown, long time resident of thia ctty, and for yeara prominent in the ranks of the Democratic party, today filed his declarations of Inten tions to seek the Democratic nomina tion for sheriff at the May 18 primary. Brown gave as his slogan: "To con duct the said office In an efficient manner and according to the laws governing same." The Democracy of Jackson county is getting ready to gird Its loins and present a full county ticket at the May 18 primary. Filings along these lines are due to be made, before the end of the week. Democrats have been confabbing for 10 days, convinc ing candidates they should make "the sacrifice, and uphold the policies of Roosevelt." Sid I. Brown of this city, a Texas born Democra't of the old school, and well known, is mentioned as an en trant In the Democratic primary for sheriff. Brown is widely .known. Narregan Mentioned. Gene Narregan, one of the "Young Democrats," according to courthouse reports, recently took out petition blanks, with 'Intention of filing for sheriff. Narregan has "filed for pre cinct committeeman from the West Med lord district. Last January, Robert E. Bell, court house janitor, filed for the Democratic nomination for sheriff. Sheriff Walter J. 01mcheid, Incum bent, and Chief of Police Clatous Mc Credle are the only Republicans filing for the sheriff's, office, but several aspirants are reported to' be threat ening to take the plunge. Wort man May Run. J. Prank Wortman, farmer-banker of Phoenix is mentioned as a possible Democratic candidate for the county judgeship. Wortman was a candidate for the post in 1932, and was defeated. H. D. (Johnny) Reed of Gold Hill has filed for the place on the Democratic ticket. Both are well known. Earl B. Day, Incumbent, has filed for the Republican nomination. Electa A. Fehl, wife of the imprisoned E. H. Fehl, has also filed on the G. O. P. aide of the fence. Col. E. E. Kelly, attorney, and Moore Hamilton, editor of a weekly paper. and one of the youngest of the "Young Democrats,' are "talked of for the legislature. A. E. Brockway, Jacksonville Grange master, and Glenn O. Taylor,, this city appointed to fill the vacancies, are expected to file under the Republi can banner. Both, to date, have been non-committal on their plans, and have "not made up their minds." They have until April 3 to do It. Seek Sennte Candidate. Senator George W. Dunn of Ash land, and Victor Bursell of Central Point, have filed for the Republican state senatorshlp. ' Democracy is skirmishing around to find a Demo crat, long In the faith, to oppose them. They would like to find a war veteran to make the race. Signs point that there will be a large crop of candidates. The de cided sentiment on the part of the voters, "to concentrate and take no more chances' has caused the slight slump In political ambitions, to date, political observers say. Registrars In the Prospect. Trail, Eagle- Point and other rural districts report that In the past month. Demo crats who registered as Republicans In 1933 to vote for the Republican candidate for county Judge, are regis tering as Democrats. ASCENDS THRONE OF NEW EMPIRE In the civil action of Florence Bo lan against Harry Mead and Rachel Mead, heard in circuit court yester day, a Jury returned a verdict after 30 minutes' .deliberation awarding the plaintiff 125 damages and fix ing the value of a horse, that was the catise of the suit, at 9100. According to the testimony, the plaintiff owed the defendant $25 on an auto. Mrs. Bolan moved toReno. Nev., leaving the horse In a Pros pect district pasture. The Meads, it was alleged, moved the horse to a pasture near Table Rock When Mrs. Bolan returned from Nevada she could not find the horse. On the second trip the animal was located in the Table Rock pasture. The 8125 damages were awarded to cover expenses of Mrs. Bolan coming here with a truck to take the horse to Nevada and for Its use. The defendants were represented by Attorney M. O. Melt butter in deep frying pan, add sugar and cook slowly and stir constantly until a light syrup forms. Add apricots and rest of ingredients Cover with bnttr. Bake 30 minutes In moderately slow oven. Turn out, apricot side up, ond a large platter. Serve fresh, plain or wlt,i cream. Bhttcr 1- 3 cup fat. 2- 3 cup sugar. , 4 cup milk. 2 eggs. 1 teaspoon vanilla. i teaspoon salt. M cups flour. a teaspoons baking powder. Cream fat and sugar. Add remain ing Ingredients, beat two minutes. Pour over apricots. A Cook7Hlnt Cookies Increase In size during the baking, so they should be spac ed Inches apart on the baking sheet. "Embalmed Egyptian bodies turned dark and became mum mified, but Lenin's body has remained intact, kept Its natural color and even the facial expression has not changed." Without revealing the secret of their process, the two men who recently were awarded the Order of Lenin for their work, predicted that the body will last "many tens of years" longer. Lenin died January 21, 1924. PORTLAND, March 13 Cut ting of top grade prices on eggs by the produce exchange ror the late ses sion suggested more or less a reflec tion of what has been happening in the open trade here for some time as a result of the mixture of grades and lack of enforcement. The exchange quoted specials down to 16c. extras 14c, and standard 13o dozen with other unchanged. While seemingly there appeared a desire on the part of leaders of the exchange to maintain grading rules. the bulk of the eggs sold in Portland, it was suggested, were sold practically without grading or candling expense. Trading In the butter market was' about steady here, weakness belrg dis- i played in such fow spots as to be scarcely noticeable except for so-cail- ed extras. SUNDAY A caravan of Med ford cars Is to leave the Chamber of Commerce building Sunday morning for crater Lake, where the second annual Snow Meet, sponsored by the Rogue Show men, will be staged. Following in the foosteps of a suc cessful caravan tour last year, the Chamber of Commerce has announced that an even larger number of cars Is desired Sunday. After leaving the Chamber of Com merce building at 9:30 &. m., the caravan will proceed directly to the lake with a stop scheduled for Pros pect. All car in the group will ar rive at the lake well ahead of the starting time for all events of the snow meet. Local people who will Join the car avan are asked to phone the Cham ber of Commerce.
