Sheriff Gordon and deputies found the body while searching the hill country for Fred Weaver, wanted for questioning In the fatal shooting on February 18 of William Zawlstowekl, 60, Cape Horn resident. Weaver had been reported batch ing with Frank Klnsey and h brother John, In a cabin near Cape Horn. John Klnsey was working Jn a logging camp near Big Rock and did not learn of bis brother's, death until this afternoon after a coron er's Jury returned a verdict of mur der by persons unknown. Three .33 caliber bullet wounds were found In Klnsey's body. Working on the theory that the killer grubstaked himself for a pro-. traqted refuge In the rough hill country, Sheriff Gordon organized n Intensive manhunt. The total, he stated was consid erably greater than that realised In Eugene, a larger city, for the second day of business, and showed an Im portant Increase over the first day's business here. Friday, the day the store opened. there were 74 permits issued and business totaled 9270. The trade was steady yesterday, from the opening until the oloslng hours of the store. The total amount of money taken In in permits was $108.50, three of them being foreign permits, for which the price Is but 60 cents. 2 Postmistresses of State Under Probe PORTLAND, Ore., March 10. (AP) Charges of making false re turns to the postmaster general were faced In federal court here today by postmistresses of two eastern Ore gon towns. Mary E. Griffin, poetmtsiree at Rye Valley, Baker county, pleaded guilty to making false returns and was referred to the- probation off! oer. Ada M. Chewnlpg, postmistress at Bates, Grant county, pleaded not guilty to a similar charge. Her case was set for March 19. Each was re leased on her own recognizance. LOS ANGELES. March 10. (AP) Pierce correll, 57, former cashier of the First National bank of TJunga, Cal., and later postmaster there died today at his home. He came to south ern California 13 years ago from saKer, ore.
