Clelsnd of Trail underwent an operation for removal of her tonsils at the Com munity hospital yesterday. Bible Class Won't Meet There will be no meeting Tuesday evening of the Weekly Bible class at the Y. W C A.. It was announced yesterday. The meeting was cancelled to enable all members to attend the seremon of Dr. Page, who Is conducting a conference at the Baptist church. Demonstration EnJo?ed--The women of the Sams Valley district enjoyed an interesting demonstration at the school house Friday, when the Honie Extension unit met with Mrs. Mabel Mack, who addressed the members on clothing. There were 30 members of the unit present and the luncheon served was made up of recipes, pre viously recommended by Mrs. Mack. Klrkland Draws Sentence Faber Klrkland, arrested by city police for disorderly conduct after several people complained that he tried to enter their houses, was sentenced yesterday to serve 10 days In the city Jail, when he appeared before City Judge A. D. Curry. The common belief Is th.it Klrkland Just couldn't tell which house was his. Judge Curry stated yesterday. . Recruiter Com I np Substation Com mander Jennings D. Lowman, of the United States army recruiting service will be in Medford February 28. 27 and 38 at the Armory, according to word received Saturday, and expects to be able to start two or three local men on their way to careers In the regular army. Rlddell has announced that she will open a Needle-Arts shop In this city about the first of March. "Beloved" Playing At Holly Today One of the most genuinely Interest ing motion pictures of the season Is "Beloved." the "musical romance of a century," which Is now playing at the Holly. John Boles and Gloria Stuart play featured roles In this highly unusual production, and Boles sings several songs as only he can sing them aim pie, moving songs of the heart. From a production standpoint. "Be loved" Is a remarkable demonstration of the flexibility of the motion pic ture. The story covers a period of nearly 100 years, and the feat Is ac complished In such a completely satisfying manner as to constitute a convincing tribute to the screen art. Director Victor Schertzlnger, who also wrote the music for "Beloved," may well be proud of his accomplish ment In bringing this epic film Into the limits of an evening's entertain ment, and In knitting the various In cidents so closely together In a smoothly flowing musical cavalcade. In the face of rising wholesale prices In commodities, the policy to keep prices down will be made more noticeably evident by Medford mer chants on Saturday next, March t. This day has been designated by the merchants of Medford as "dollar day" and present Indications ore that It will be a very outstanding event. It Is also hoped It will surpass the one conducted a couple of years ago. The dollar day event la being handled by the Chamber of Com merce committee, under the chair manship of C. D. Bean. Mr. Bean reports that all merchants of the city are ready for the affair, and that special merchandise .has been ordered In a large number of In stances. Dollar day will be celebrated not only by ready-to-wear store, men's tores, and department stores, but will Include grocery stores, druggists and all types of retail establishments. "Some people may think that com modity prices have risen out of pro portion to salary Increase," he stated yesterday morning, "but I think they will be agreeably surprised next Sat urday when they see the wonderful values which will be offered by the merchants of the city."
