Bring in Tuneful
Comedy At Roxy
Cffoony and looney, Paramount'
whirlwind muileal, "Too Much Har
mony,' open at the Rcxy theater
today. .
Blng Crosby, as the romantic rru
slcal comedy star, provides not only
his customary capable voice, but also
adds to his rapidly-gathering LCting
laurels. A long list of noted come
dians, Including Jack Oflkle. Skeets
Gallagher, Harry Green. Ned Sparks
and Sammy Cohen, provide the
laughs.
"Too Much Harmony" Is the story
of a musical comedy troupe between
the finish of one season and the start
of the next. Love and laughter and
song seem to be as much a part of
the every-day life of the troupers as
It Is of their theater life.
The Important feminine roles are
taken by Judtth Allen. Lllyan Tash
man, Kitty Kelly and Grace Bradley.
"Beloved" Playing
At Holly Today
One of the most genuinely Interest
ing motion pictures of the season Is
"Beloved." the "musical romance of
a century," which Is now playing at
the Holly.
John Boles and Gloria Stuart play
featured roles In this highly unusual
production, and Boles sings several
songs as only he can sing them aim
pie, moving songs of the heart.
From a production standpoint. "Be
loved" Is a remarkable demonstration
of the flexibility of the motion pic
ture. The story covers a period of
nearly 100 years, and the feat Is ac
complished In such a completely
satisfying manner as to constitute a
convincing tribute to the screen art.
Director Victor Schertzlnger, who
also wrote the music for "Beloved,"
may well be proud of his accomplish
ment In bringing this epic film Into
the limits of an evening's entertain
ment, and In knitting the various In
cidents so closely together In a
smoothly flowing musical cavalcade.

In the face of rising wholesale
prices In commodities, the policy to
keep prices down will be made more
noticeably evident by Medford mer
chants on Saturday next, March t.
This day has been designated by the

handled by the Chamber of Com
merce committee, under the chair
manship of C. D. Bean. Mr. Bean
reports that all merchants of the
city are ready for the affair, and
that special merchandise .has been
ordered In a large number of In
stances. Dollar day will be celebrated not
only by ready-to-wear store, men's
tores, and department stores, but
will Include grocery stores, druggists
and all types of retail establishments.
"Some people may think that com
modity prices have risen out of pro
portion to salary Increase," he stated
yesterday morning, "but I think they
will be agreeably surprised next Sat
urday when they see the wonderful
values which will be offered by the
merchants of the city."
It Is expected that the specials'
which will be offered by the mer
chants will be entirely In keeping j
with the Idea of General Hugh S. i
Johnson, and surprising offers will
be in store for the thrifty shopper. I
