Chief of Police Clatous McCredle telephoned the City Sanitary Service and the large truck made a trip to the address given by the officer. There they found the little yellow teddy bear, with the Injured leg. Surprised, but fulfilling their duty, the draymen took the little bear to the place where all such dead pets go. One neighbor In that section this morning said that she had noticed all the passers-by "shy" past the place where lay the little yellow heap, and when another neighbor said, "There Is a dead kitty across the street,", the report was made to the police. The situation Is most unique, prac tically all the action taking place aboard an axpss train speeding across the continent from Seattle to New York, loaded with $3,000,000 worth of silk. The plot revolves around the attempt of silk specu lators to wreck the train to prevent the arrival of the silk after fihey have cornered the New York market. Two mysterious murders are com mitted aboard the train, with an at tempted third. Eight persons are under suspicion, with the finger of guilt pointing alternately at each. These Include train detectives, & tramp beatnlg his way across the country on the blind baggage car and a scientist, his daughter and a doc tor. (AP) "Healtfty Increases' In business are good news to many and a "healthy de crease" In population Is good news to Oregon penitentiary officials. For the first time In almost four years the population of the Ore gon prison la below 800. There are now 707 "enrolled." On December S, 1929. there were only 794 pris oners. A rapid Increase brought the population to the high total of 957 on March 16. 1931.
