Chicago Wheat 11 l?5ii T Devaney-Dugan Betrothal Told. At a lovely bridge event last week at the borne of Mrs. Larry Fisher, the engagement of Miss Yvonne Devaney to Joseph Dugan waa announced. Three tables of bridge were In play during the evening at the Fisher home, where Miss Devaney waa Joint hostess, and Talisman rosea, present ed as favors, wer - found to conceal on a small card the announcement of the betrothal. Date of the wedding was not told. The Hallowe'en motif as used In decorations about the rooms for the occasion and prizes at cards were awarded Miss Mildred Dugan and Mrs. Robert Mtksche. Present were: Mrs. H. J. Devaney. mother of the bride-elect; Mra. Ken neth Murray. Mrs. Robert Miksche. Mrs. Vernon Turpin. Mrs. Joe Mar shall. Mra. Wlllsie Prultt. Miss Mar garet Wood. Prizes were won by Mesdames Holloway, Bunch and Smith. 14 Chrysanthemum Circle To Greet Grand Officer Grand Manager Annie Hawkins Is In this city from Portland and will be a guest this evening at the meet ing of Chrysanthemum circle No. 84, Neighbors orf Woodcraft. Initiation and election of officers will be held this evening and a pot-luck supper will be enjoyed, for which each men ber Is asked to bring a dls. Gilbert Dorys 0 Are Guests Here Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dory and daughter Dorene of Berkeley, CaJ., and formerly of Greenville. Iowa, ar rived in Medford Monday to spend a few days visiting at the George B. Young home. They had planned a trip to Iowa, but due to weatner con ditions, cancelled their arrangements. Mr. Dory knew Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Green, now of Medford, when they lived at Pontanelle. Iowa, and will visit them also while her. Westminster Forum To Meet Brown Home. A new program of study and dis cussion is being planned by the West minster Forum for this -fall and win ter. Meetings will be held In private homes each Wednesday evening from 7:30' to 8:30. the time being devoted chiefly to reviewa of books and to general discussion. The meeting to night will be held at the home of Mtes Emily Brown, 10.12 West llth street. Womens Relief Corps To Meet On Thursday. The Women's Relief Corps will meet In the Armory Thursdaj after noon at 2 o'clock. A good attend ancs Is desired as the meeting will be the last preceding Inspection. An nie E. Stelnbaugh of Grants Pass will lrupect the corps Thursday, Novem ber 18. A covered dish luncheon will be enjoyed at that lime. There will be a meeting of the De gree of Honor at the Labor Union hall Thursday evening, November 3. and all officera and members are asked to arrive at 8:45 o'clock. All persons, who enjoy an evening at cards, are invited as bridge, five hundred and pinochle will be played. Former Local Girl Married In East. Friends here of Miss Verna Jones, former Medford girl, have' received word of her marriage to Mr. Car E. White of Indianapolis. Ind., on Octo ber 9 at Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. White will be remembered hero as a popular member of the younger set and was formerly a member of the staff of the Mail Tribune's printing department. She has been residing in the east for th- past few years. Mr. White, who Is will known in Indianapolis and i member of col lege and fraternal organizations, has been connected with the postal service for the past few years. The couple are making their home at 1664 Exeter avenue In Indlanarjolis. Mrs. Brown Honored At Tuesday Luncheon. Mrs. Elsie Brown, who is leaving the county olerk's office to accept a position with Attorney Porter J. Neff. was honored yesterday at lunch eon at the Hotel Holland, at which members of the county clerk's staff were hostesses. Other Invited guests were : Gertrude Martin, Sybil Ed wards.
