There are .several reasons why every enthusiastic theater-goer should see "Secrets," Mary Plckford's latest talkie, now showing at Hunt's Cra te rlan. First. Mary Plckford la a tradition al Institution In this country. Altho she has been temporarily replaced in random's affections first by this and then that more glamorous product of the cinema art, still she holds her place in the average memory V America's Swwetheart." This picture, carefully selected, employing the cream of the movie capital's talent In support acting, di rection and production la not only Mary's comeback It's the test as to whether or not today's audiences have outgrown Mary Plckford. True, this la a different type story. Mary has grown up and . expresses mature emotions. She has mot out lived her beauty and la absolutely as YOUNG looking as ever. So what? Some of the critics have raved about the show. Others awarded It "second beat" comment. In no pub lications scrutinized so far has It been actually panned. Again, so what? The question Is: Marry Plckford, the traditional institution. Instltu ttons of traditional Importance are worthy of careful and representative consideration. They are retained or rejected by majority rule. So each theater-goer must see for himself and cast his own ballot for or against the Plckford estate in filmdom's de votion. Plenty Of Comedy In Rialto Western That comedy Is prominent In "Scatlet River," starring Tom Keene Friday and Saturday at the Rialto theatre, la assured by the featured casting of Rosco Ates and Ed Ken nedy, who are part of the supporting cast which further Includes Dorothy Wilson, Crelghton Chaney and Hoop er Atchley. Rosco Ates gives his first screen non-stuttering role as a comic farm hsnd. Ed Kennedy portraye an easily excited firm director who works for Tom Keene, a movie cowboy. Ates and Kennedy perform hilariously as a joyous team thrust together by the action fighting and riding resultant when Keene comes to an Arizona ranch to shoot his new picture and discovers that It pretty owner, Dor- Lothy Wilson, la being swindled out or ner property oy ner iwcu.au uu a band of real outlaws. ROXY IS SHOWING ZANE GREY WESTERN Zane Orey's action romance of the west, "Heritage of the Desert." with Randolph Scott, Sally Blane and J. Farrell MacDonald, opens today the Roxy. The picture, following the novel closely. Is the story of the battle be tween ranchers and outlaws. RAILROAD PLANS LINKED TO PLEA FOR HARBOR AID GRANTS PASS. July 27.
