Pete Bellcastro, the scrappy Italian boy from Sacramento, will meet Geo, Koverly, both well known here, al though Bcllcoatro Is better known than Is Koverly, who has wrestled here only once. Bellcastro, however, has a way of making the fans hate him, so he Is a popular favorite with the fans. Action, and lota of It, la Bellcastro' secret of success. It will cost nothing to sign up to night, learn how to box -from Lea. Showers and Dick Russell, and to try for the elegant trophlea, and trips to other tourneys pointing to the na tional championships, that go to the winners. A number of towering heavy weights are expected among the hus kies to enroll tonight. The Dempsey trophy beckons the big fellows into the folds of the huge tourney here. Elaborate awards go to victors In all other weight classes, too. On the three nights of Axe tourney, the Medford amateurs will Join forces In a mighty fistic drive against the out-of-town warriors. There will be from 15 to 30 wild-eyed fights in all weight divisions on each night of. the huge fistic revival. The fights will be for three rounds each and are to be put on In rapid-fire order, with the first starting at promptly 8:16 and the last struggle to end not later than 10:30. As the Medford amateurs organise tonight, those within a radius -of loo miles of this city, too, will be mob ilising for their Invasion of the arm ory here In quest of the champion ships when the hostilities get under way. The same brand of thrilling amateur fights that atlrs San Fran- Cisco, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Kansaa City, and other large fistic centers will be dished up to the ring devotees of southern Oregon when the curtain goes up on the huge tournament here.
