May 25 (Spl) Commencement exercises of Sams Val ley high school were held Thursday night with over 200 In attendance. Mr. Vlmont of Medford delivered the address to the graduates, Miss Geraldlne Hsrper and Mies Mary Hemsley. Other numbers of the pro gram were the salutatory by Mary Hemsley: music by Bill Vlmont on the saw, accompanied by Miss Madx Mitchell; valedictory by Geraldlne Harpet: two songs, the Girls' Olee club: farewell to school and patrons by Principal Joe S. McKnight. The presentation of diploma by chair man of board, M. A. schula. Friday closed a successful term ot school. Mr. McKnight will teach next year in the John Day valley: Miss Mitchell at Gold Hill. Mr. McKnlght's place will be filled by Mr. Ayres of Argo. and Mlsa Mitchell's place by Miss France Wilson. Miss Hall will remain as English teacher and Mrs. East sa upper grade teacher. Roy Parr and Mrs. Erma Brenna man were married Sunday. Mr. Parr was grade principal at Table Ro:k school and the bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Measer. Both young people have the well wishes of friends in this district. Other wedding bells are expected to soon ring for some of Sams Valley's social act. The death of Mrs. Msry E. Duggan Sunday morning took from the valley one of lt'a oldest pioneers. She was 75 years old this month, and had re sided on the farm where she passed away for 58 years, having come there Immediately after her marriage to Dennla Duggan. Mra. Duggan had not been well for over a year and had been seriously 111 for the past three weeks. Her four children were at her bedside as well as other rela tives. Her husband passed away sev eral years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Armstrong of Eugene and Mrs. Lucy Dickey and granddaughter, Margaret Bellinger of Salem arrived Saturday to be at the bedside of Mrs. Duggan, a sister of Mrs. Dickey and Mrs. Armstrong.
