Society and Clubs Edited by Eva Nealon Hamilton Past Matrons Enjoy Luncheon and Cards Entertaining for tho pleasure of the Grants Pass group. Past Matrons of Reames chapter met at the Hotel Holland yesterday for luncheon and cards. Covers were arranged for 35 guests at the table, beautifully ar ranged with lilacs. Iris and tulips as centerpiece. May baskets of green were used as favors. 6onga at the table were in charge of Mrs. O. O. Lexlson, who also en tertained with a solo, accompanied at the piano by Miss Dorothy Rey nolds, who played two Instrumental numbers, which were also much en Joyed. Following luncheon the guests con tinued to the parlor of the hotel, where bridge was enjoyed in a set ting fragrant with lilacs. Prizes at cards were awarded Mrs. Sam Baker, Mrs. Chris Elsmann and Mrs. R. U Fowler. 4- Chrysanthemum Circle Will Meet on Wednesday The next regular meeting of Chry santhemum circle. No. 84, Neighbors of Woodcraft will be held Wednesday evening. May 3 at 8 o'clock. Wednesday Study Club to Meet The Wednesday Study club meets tomorrow In the club rooms in the city hall. Mrs. N. T. Hodges. Mrs. J. P. Lawrence and Mrs. M. M. Morris will appear on the program. Goes Honored During Short Stay In Med ford Mr. and Mrs. Earl Coe, who were visitors here from, the south over the week-end, were the Inspiration for considerable entertaining. A luncheon honoring Mrs. Coe was ar ranged by a group of- her friends at the Hotel Medford Friday. Covers were placed for 13 at the no-hostess affair, after which guests continued to the Lageson home for cards. Saturday evening. Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Lageson entertained with a danc ing party for the pleasure of the Coes, inviting 20 guests to their home for the occasion. The Coes made their home In Med ford before moving to Los Angeles, and have many friends here who greeted them during their short stay last week-end. They left Sunday for the north. Auxiliaries to Welcome Mrs. Blackburn Tomorrow Members of the Medford American Legion Auxiliary, with groups from Ashland and Grants Pass, will wel come Mrs. Laura Blackburn, national prelsdent of the auxiliary, to south ern Oregon tomorrow. She will 'be met in Ashland by Mrs. Sydney .George, state president, Mrs. John finders, district president, and Mrs. Guy Applewhite, president of the Ashland unit, with whom she will continue to Medford by motor. The party will be Joined here by Mrs. K. D. Ross, president of the Medford auxiliary, Mrs. Goodwyn Humphreys, Mrs. W. W. Cleaves and Mrs. Belva Aiken. The Medford delegation will ac company the group to Grants Pass, where members of the neighboring auxiliary will Join the caravan to continue to Roseburg. Luncheon will be enjoyed in Grants Pass and the Rosebnrg program for the evening Includes Inspection of the new sol diers' home, dinner, reception and dance. Mrs. Blackburn la In the west on an Inspection tour of hospitals and soldiers' homes. She will arrive In southern Oregon on the train from the south tomorrow morning. Much festivity Is planned In both Grants Pass and Roseburg for her pleasure and the Medford auxiliary members will be participants In all events. Christian Missionary Society Meets May 8 The regular monthly meeting of the Woman's Missionary society of the First Christian church will be held Friday, May 5. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 o'clock In the large dining room of the church, observing the birthdays of the members. The regular program will follow at 2 o'clock, in charge of Mrs. P. C. Lath am and group. All members are urged to be present. Circle Thimble Club To Meet, Plckel Home Neighbor Taletha Plckel will be hostess at her home at Phoenix Wed nesday to members of Chrysanthe mum Circle Thimble club. Covered dish luncheon will precede the meet ing, which will be for members of the circle and thimble club only.
