College Women Enjoy Luncheon At Local Hotel ' College Women'a club of the Rogue River Valley met Saturday at the Hotel Medford for the club's annual luncheon. Ovur forty members and guests enjoyed the hospitality of the Medford. Miss Fay Woolasy, assist ed by Mrs. Harris James and Mrs. Robert Hammond were hostesses. The tables were most attractive with baskets of polnsettss, heather and fems and lighted with tall tapers In blending colors. - Mrs. F. D. Wagner Introduced Miss Rosa Oore who played the Prelude Number Four by Chopin and Pouch' Inelle by Rachmaninoff. Mrs. Leland Mentrer reviewed In a most delight ful manner "The Lady of Oodeya" by Ruth 8. Flnley: a blograph of the life of Mrs. Ssra Hale of New Hamp shire. Mrs. Hale was for forty years editor of Oodey's Ladles Magazine and discussed the progress of women dur ing thi Victorian age. Mra. Hale be. lleved women had rights, but she was far too clever to antagonize her aud- lence by openly campaigning for them. At the age of ninety, she wrote "New avenues for higher culture an opening tor women that they may Improve these opportunities and be faithful In their high vocation, Is my heartfelt prayer." . Luther League Elects Officers The annual business meeting ot the Luther Leagua was held at the home ot Dr. and Mrs. O. P. Kabele Monday evening. Miss Marjorle Psley, great grand daughter or Tnos, Reames, for whom Reames chapter was named, played two violin solos, and Mrs. Strang also enter tained with two vocal numbers, which were muoh enjoyed. Songs were aung and follow ing dinner Rev. J. M. Johnson, pas tor of the church, introduced the speaker of pie evening, Mrs. B. N. Warner of Medford. Mrs. Warner read from the Bible a story of a mother and her tender care of her child, and basing her re marks upon that story gave both mother and daughter many funda mental, beautiful and touching truths, that, Indeed, will make the lives of both more useful and happy, and will help to establish, and main tain that tine, .
