SAYS REPORT State police were today continuing every effort In searching for the three men In the Chrysler sedan, who Tues day evening opened fire on Slate Patrolman Joseph Folsom. when stopped on a minor traffic violation. Several reports have been received of their whereabouts, and officers are checking on all possible clues. A service station operator near Eugene reported that a Chrysler sedan with II 11 not license plates cor responding with those said to be on the car, went over the McKenzle highway last night, en route to Bend, and a check Is being made in that vicinity. Officers expressed the belief that the trio is not bottled In the south ern Oregon d tstrict aa was first thought, unless secluded in some re mote section. A series of burglaries In California and southern Oregon, occurring In a consistent order that a party traveling north might com mit, was being considered by state police as the work of the three men. The southern Oregon burglary which officers believe, might fit into the series was the robbery of the Tog gery here last Friday night. Officer Folsom reported that when he flashed a light Into the back seat of the car as he approached It, a slot machine was visible, and that the space In the back of the auto waa filled up above the aeat. BIG TOY MATINEE Lady Lions of Medford, who each year sponsor the remodeling of toys for all needy children of the city, announced this afternoon that the annual discarded toy matinee will be held at the Holly theater tomorrow afternoon. All children in the val ley are Invited and each one is asked to bring a discarded or broken toy for admission. The Holly theater has donated the 1:15 matinee Saturday to this cause and a large attendance Is expected, the toy being the only requirement for admission. The picture announc ed for the matinee will star Ken Maynard, always a favorite with the younger generation, and a Jolly after noon is promised. Last year approx imately 800 toys were obtained in this manner to bring happiness to children who would otherwise have failed to greet Santa Claus. The toys are remodeled by the fire men of the city, repainted and made Into "good aa new" Christmas gifts. All mothers ar easked to respond again to this call by sending their children to the theater tomorrow afternoon equipped with toys. T RED CROSS GOLF Alfred S. V. Carpenter held low net score yesterday In the Red Cross benefit turkey tournament at the Rogue Valley Golf course witft 90-25-64. Sprague Rlegel was. second man with a score of 88-30-68, and Hank Prlngle held the low score of 82. Proceeds realized from play will be donated to the Red Cross fund. Wednesday afternoon at the local course Alfred S. V. Carpenter and T. W. Miles played off the finals In the P. A. T. tournament. Miles was one up on the first 18 boles and Car penter won the match six and four, taking the trophy for the following year. As a result of the tournament ) there will be quite a slash in handi caps. Plans were under way to hold a reception for the team next week. The high school band, under the direction of P. Wilson, Walt, played at the Jefferson game Thursday, and many of its members returned this morning, while some remained in the metropolis. About 300 Medford people attended the game. It will be another turkey tournament and there will be 13 turkeys to be award ed the w 1 nners. Members of the golf club will play on their han dicaps and outsiders according to ar rangement of the tournament com mittee. Participants will be asked to tee off at 9 o'clock or as soon after as possible. Luncheon will be served at the club house and will in cluded In the green fee for the day. H. Chandler Egan, Rogue River valley's famous golfer, will address the crowd at luncheon. Other speak ers will be C. J Semon, A, P. John sen and Ralph Headlee. Luncheon will be served about 2 o'clock. Prises will be presented at luncheon and the Reames trophy will be presented Tom Emmens, whose team won the tournament. He will be allowed to hold the trophy for three months. TO VIEW BUDGET The budget committee for Jack son county will meet with the county court Tuesday afternoon, No vember 29, at 2 o'clock in the court chambers. The Chamber of Com merce committee. Grange committees and any other appointed groups wishing to present their ideas before the budget is published, are Invited to attend. B. E.
