FLEE EASTWARD IN
AUTO. SAYS REPORT
State police were today continuing
every effort In searching for the three
men In the Chrysler sedan, who Tues
day evening opened fire on Slate
Patrolman Joseph Folsom. when
stopped on a minor traffic violation.
Several reports have been received of
their whereabouts, and officers are
checking on all possible clues.
A service station operator near
Eugene reported that a Chrysler
sedan with II 11 not license plates cor
responding with those said to be on
the car, went over the McKenzle
highway last night, en route to Bend,
and a check Is being made in that
vicinity.
Officers expressed the belief that
the trio is not bottled In the south
ern Oregon d tstrict aa was first
thought, unless secluded in some re
mote section. A series of burglaries
In California and southern Oregon,
occurring In a consistent order that
a party traveling north might com
mit, was being considered by state
police as the work of the three men.
The southern Oregon burglary
which officers believe, might fit into
the series was the robbery of the Tog
gery here last Friday night.
Officer Folsom reported that when
he flashed a light Into the back seat
of the car as he approached It, a slot
machine was visible, and that the
space In the back of the auto waa
filled up above the aeat.
