Thus, five no trump formerly counted 178. Now It Is 170. Under the new code all "fives" are automatically eliminated from the last digit of a score. The mistakes In addition thua will be materially decreased. A three no trump con tract Is valued at 100 points, the asm as a game contract in dia monds or clubs. Heretofore the five point advantage In favor of the three no trump contract stimulated much unnatural bidding In dupli cate in ths endeavor to play a band at a contract of three no trump. Omission of Premiums for Making Doubled Contracts The old laws gavs the bidding side too much of an advantage, since the Declarer'a side bsd so much more to gsln, if a doublsd contract waa made, than the adverssrles If the contract waa defeated. Thus under the old lews, if a contract of four hearts, dou bled not vulnerable, waa made the Declarer gained 170 points extra while the adversaries could gain but 80 points extra If the contract waa H defeated one trtofc.
