Mey ers, past grand master of Blue lodge. both of Salem, arrived in Medford yesterday to attend funeral services today for Glen Fabrick, Sr. Gold Rush Success Besides being the largest celebration ever held in Siskiyou county, the -first annual Gold Rush, staged by the Yreka Mm ers and Gold Diggers here October 7 and B raised sufficient funds to care for the needy of this city through the coming winter, according to those in charge of the celebration. No Permits Necessary The Rogue River National forest service Saturday received a telegram from headquar ters !n Portland stating that It is no longer necessary for those travel ing in the national forest land to ob tain camp fire permits. The an announcement also lifted the bsn on no smoking while in the natlonsl for ests, and the necessity of carrying n shovel, ax and bucket. Lee Roy, who gave his address as Medford, was arrested Saturday by state po lice, while hunting In the Ross Lane district. Roy had a California license on his automobile, but was using a residence hunting license, accord lng to officers. He was given ten days' suspended sentence wnen he appear ed before Judge H. D. Reed In Justice court at Gold Rill Saturday. Stone, who was held in jail here on a charge of obtaining goods under false pretenses, made good the amount of $42 due, and was released Saturday on his own recognizance, according to the dis trict attorney's office. Sentence Suspended Sentence of J. R. Hallett was suspended one month, when he appeared in circuit court yesterday and pleaded guilty to a charge of issuing worthless checks. The amounts were made good by Hallett, the district attorney's of fice reported. Attend Rotary Several cars of Medford Rotarians and their ladles left yesterday for Klamath Falls to attend the annual Inter-City meeting of Southern Oregon Rotary clubs. An attractive program of entertainment was arranged for the afternoon and evening, culminating in a dinner and dance at the Hotel Wlllard last night. Cochran ap peared before United States Commis sioner Victor Tengwald Saturday on charge of smoking while In the Rogue River national forest. He was arrested by Ranger Hugh Rltter. The case was dismissed, due to the fact that the season had been extended, concerning the rules of prevention of fire, according to Commissioner Teng wald. Prisoner Here Emil Rears, 23 an escape from the reform school at Lincoln, Nebr., was bound over to the federal grand Jury on $1000 bond when he appeared before United States Commissioner E. W. Madison of Grants Pass Saturday. Rears was arrested by Sheriff Ernest Lester of Josephine county, and State Police Officer Raleigh Taylor on a check charge. It was then found the auto mobile he was driving was stolen, and that he had escaped from the Nebraska Institution. Rears was brot to Medford by Deputy United States Marshal Cal C. -Wells, and will be taken to Portland by that officer. .
