Wednesday Study Club Has First ' Autumn Meeting - The Wednesday study club met at the City Library on the afternoon of October 6th, for the first study pro gram of the club year, which wae opened by the president, Mrs. J. Mrs. Cochran followed with "The Bio graphy of James Madison" and after general dismission, Mrs. W. E. Successful New Year Forseen by Garden Club Here Member of th Medford Garden club feel that a good start toward a successful year was made at the meet ing held In the auditorium of the court house Thursday evening, when business that has come up during the summer vacation was attended to and a plant exchange took place Mrs. u. E. wuson reported on the 4-H work in which onlyi the Roose- veit and Washington schools partici pated, nine prizes being awarded. Mention waa made of the kindness of Messrs, Swem, Mlksche and Mac Donald in helping with the float for the parade on Sept. 1, and of the amount of work such a float requires. Mrs. Swlgart waa asked to confer with delegates from other olubs con cerning the projected club rooms In tne city hall. Mra. GUmore. Hi Triangle Has Attendance Fete . At th last meeting of the HI Triangle club of th First Christian church, ths. attendance contest was won by Geraldlne Latham'a and William Dome groups. Th winners ad guest were served refreshment at a table beautifully decorated with fall flowers and pink candles. There were fifty membera and visitor at the meeting, twenty of whom were at the winning table. Th losers were vanquished to the far end of the hall, where they received only pie a an additional penalty. Plans were made to entertain the I-Trlangle at the next meeting. Sewing Bees, Next On Relief Program In Local Society Women of Jackson county are again called to aupplant bridge par ties and teas with relief work, this time to devote their hours to the art of sewing. Women's clubs and societies throughout ths county are asked by the Red Cross to make clothe for needy families during the coming winter months. The material Is being furnished by the Red Cross and the women are asked to make It Into garment. Several thousand yards .have been alloted Jackson county. Church Luncheon At Bennett Home Is Large Affair Thursday was the occasion of the annual one o'clock luncheon of the W. F. M. S. of the First M. E. church, held at the parsonage, with Mr. Bennett as hostess, the officers of the society a aponsors. Certain definite request were made of the Y. W. O. A. and were enthusiastically received by the board. Among these requests were: That the lecture room of the "Y" building be offered to the girls at noon for a resting place and social hall. That a Sunday vesper serv ice be conducted, to help meet the spiritual needs of the girls. That social get-together evenlnga be given at Intervals for the girl. That classea be offered the girls, espec ially one in music appreciation. The first "get-together" psrty was then planned .for Wednesday eve ning. October 13 at 8:00 o'clock.
