Volkner Arretted Herman Volkner, 38, a local resident, was arrested last night by the state police, charged with driving a vehicle with old li cense plates. A., arrived in Medford yesterday from San Fran cisco. Mr. Zahleen formerly resided here. He has been tn South America for the past two years. To Oregon Caves Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Howell and Lee Lacey of Portland left this forenoon by motor for the Oregon Caves, having spent the past two days In Medford. They plan to return here before going back to Portland. Mrs. Wayflelrt Returns Mrs. How ard Mayfleld left this morning for her home at Redmond, after spending the past several days as guest of the George Howards here. She made the trip home with Mr. Mayfleld, who came to southern Oregon on a busi ness trip. Sentenced to Jail Arthur Dalley today was sentenced to 30 days In Jail on the charge of possessing 40 bottles of beer and four pints of monshlne, which were seized Wed nesday evening by federal and state prohibition officers. Here Last Evening O. L. Vitus of the Standard Oil offices In Klamath Falls was In Medford last evening at tending a meeting of that organisa tion. Accompanying him to Medford were his wife, Mrs. Alice Vitus, of the advertising department of the Klamath Herald and the Klamath News In that city, and Frank Jen kins, president of the Southern Ore gon Publishing company. Fine Suspended Gus G. Marlson, who resides near Casey's camp on the Crater Lake highway, was fined $25 and hla operator's license sus pended for three months when he pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving. The hearing was conducted Wednesday before Judge Glenn O. Taylor In Justice court. The fine was suspended. Carlson was arrested by state police Monday.
